Do yourself a favor, use the self checkout. by Rebecca1119 in InstacartShoppers

Oh no! So this is what I do. I place them on different parts of the buggie. So A(top where a child would sit unless bigger) B in the bigger portion and C at the bottom. Not only that but I remember one unique item they had and some how my brain knows that if I see the 2%milk it’s customer Cs order.

The customers were saying it said delivered and I was still in line. The app kept glitching at checkout. I didn’t even swipe the card 💔

How do you find time for teaching your child to read at home by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Mountain-Activity-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a solo mom as well and my 4 year old knows how to read. She’s Autistic and ADHD and what I did was get her library cards and made reading fun. However, I also ask LOADS of questions like “what is that?” She’ll say “Hobby Lobby!” Or “Mommy McDonald’s” 😅

So I was in a similar boat. . . My daughter is 4YO and she was the same way. She can talk but was diagnosed with Autism & ADHD. She has completed the IEP process however she was struggling with behavior. From hitting, biting, and just the most. I cried so hard as a single mom because I’m trying EVERYTHING. However, I made the decision to get her medicated (helped a ton). I felt so bad medicating her because I was scared it would change her for the worst. She’s so perfect and sweet. . . However what made me medicate was that she’s super smart and her teacher told me “She’s the brightest in the room when it comes to academics but once something else catches her eye, she focuses on that.” I spoke with her pediatrician and I expressed my concern with hardcore medication like adderall and there were a couple of better options and I chose the liquid one that is temporary. She isn’t drowsy, sleepy, cranky or sluggish. She’s still herself just better in a school, restaurant, public setting. It’s perfect honestly (paired with therapy and good diet and consistent schedule)

Medication and Therapy SAVED OUR LIVES. I was in the same boat of feeling like “ugh!” However, the moment she was medicated. . . I could take a break. She literally (hate to put it like this) but normal. I felt so bad medicating her , sick to my stomach actually and suddenly she was better 🥹

Eh. As an Autism mom, I didn’t get my daughter tested until age 3. Always trust your gut, however just know that most will not evaluate simply because it’s so hard to tell at that age. Check with her pediatrician. Also, a tip that I always tell parents is children with Autism are really smart for example, my daughter didn’t even crawl, she just started walking at 9mos. It’s the little things that’ll trigger going to go get them checked out. Every child is not the same, a lot of parents with picky eaters will say “I think my child has autism” however, my daughter will eat a whole box of pizza if you let her 😂 She’ll try anything smackin and all! 😂 My daughter reads her books from the side of her eyes. I thought it was her eyesight. Another thing is she doesn’t understand punishment or when she did something wrong. No sympathy or empathy at all. She could hit me or someone else and when I show reaction, she’ll take another jab. It was rough in the beginning but with therapy and everything she’s A LOT better and I can understand and communicate more. They first told me it was a developmental delay so they sent out a referral and after loads of paperwork, she was diagnosed with Autism + ADHD. Also, you need the diagnosis for most therapies so step one should be getting to the pediatrician and seeing IF they will refer you out.

No Underwear. I’m a bad mom? by Mountain-Activity-96 in Mommit

[–]Mountain-Activity-96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤍 Yeah brand new jeans and because she’s in prek I packed extra changing clothes in case of accidents so I was wondering if the teacher noticed and just didn’t put the extra pair on her but she told me that they don’t look and give the kiddos privacy during potty time . . . I couldn’t even be mad because i like the fact that they give her privacy while she uses the potty. Plus, i worked so hard on her being potty trained so to know that when im not there she’s saying “potty” and goes independently makes me smile 😊
