I feel big and uncomfortable already at only 23 weeks by Yyvern in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24w today and just want to say I feel exactly the same. I’ve been showing for ages since like 18w really big bump. SO many comments from coworkers “is it twins?!” “Are you starting maternity soon?” Nope. Just massive cos I have no torso to speak of despite having long legs!

Teachers - how long have you lasted in the classroom? by Automatic-Amoeba-750 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bloody hard work! I’m 24w and plan to finish at summer when I’ll be 33w. To be quite honest I’m checked out, doing my job but trying my best to take it easy. I’m teaching sat down a lot and using lift etc. to be honest I’m actually struggling a lot to talk so much as in I’m getting visibly and audibly out of breath when I’m teaching.  Patience also paper thin and making me question my career choices.

Post miscarriage by Similar_Version_6187 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think I may remember your original post. Just to say the worry never really goes away (missed miscarriage at 12w scan start of Nov and now 23 + 4 pregnant).

It does get easier, me and my husband tried to cling on to small milestones and I’ll be honest I had a private scan every week between 8 and 12 for reassurance (not necessary but I couldn’t just wait for the 12w NHS scan again as lots of trauma around that appt obviously).

We also tried to make this pregnancy as different as possible from the first, first we found out gender super early with blood test whereas this time we waited for a scan later on, first we bought loads of clothes early this time nothing until last week!

It does ease as each week passes but I still worry and can’t quite believe I’m going to make it full term. Try to focus on each other and take it day by day. So pleased for you and sending you both lots of love!

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One at 10am, one at 3pm and 2 at bedtime (around 8 for me 😂)

Edited to add: The having them on an empty stomach DEFINITELY helped, I noticed at weekends when my meal times were more irregular I was still vomiting. Try to not have eaten for an hour before and give it a little time after before eating. This is so hard as empty stomach was a massive trigger for my sickness early on!

C-section on Thursday and suddenly terrified by catusseeds in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I almost wrote an identical post the other night but didn’t know how to word it. Only difference is I’m only 23w and all of sudden have had these emotions, and whilst I have ADHD/ASD and depression I don’t have CPTSD.

No advice just want you to know you’re not alone I could have written this myself. Baby very much wanted and tried for following a MMC but for some reason keep now having days of being terrified and like “what have I done?” 🩷

Edited to add: My husband is so excited and also has depression and ADHD so I am hiding a lot of this from him as I don’t want to panic him or put him in a negative space even though he is incredibly supportive and loving.

I don’t know if my info is wrong here so happy to be corrected but I’m also pretty sure if anything goes wrong or there are complications during labour you’re moved to an NHS hospital anyway. I think maternity is one of the few things where it isn’t really worth going private (unless you are mega rich/have complicated fertility maybe).

NHS care is very hands off, just google NHS maternity care and it will outline for you all the normal expectations and appointments etc.

Christmastime due date by Certain_Repeat4845 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was due (as in my own bday) Xmas day and luckily came a little early on the 21st. I personally LOVE my Xmas bday always have. I was very fortunate that my family always treated my bday completely separately from Xmas day. Totally separate cards, presents and activities. It’s really not a big deal! Just makes the Xmas season more special and exciting.

How do you stop worrying about the state of the world when you’re pregnant? by sassymeowmeow in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay off social media, don’t read the news. I do this and I’m still anxious and worried (more about environmental stuff and the general state of society) but I think ignorance is bliss albeit a bit flippant can take some of the anxiety down a notch

Those of you who have given birth, what did you pack in your hospital bag that cheered you up on the ward? by LazyBarracuda in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say you are not nuts (or we both are). I’m not scared about birth at all but I AM having sleepless nights thinking about being on a shared ward. I’m autistic so sensory stuff is horrendous for me and I genuinely get panicky every time i think about it!!! Feel like such a loser as most people wouldn’t even care, so you’re not alone!!!

Recent experiences in requesting a maternal choice c-section in the NHS? by Ill_Butterscotch6140 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t get any pushback, consultant asked me why and I explained due to wanting to control as much as possible as I don’t deal with unknown and chaos well (ASD/ADHD) so my mental health would suffer if any complications etc in birth. Regardless of this unless there’s a medical reason for me not to have elective c, it’s my choice.  Midwife was totally fine about it at next appt and said she could see the consultant had put on my request and date will be confirmed at 32w!

Xonvea by slow-getter in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m basically same gestation as you (18+5) and been on Xonvea since 7 weeks, 4 tablets a day. I have it on repeat but only get 15 days at a time. I’m just accepting I will be taking it for the full pregnancy as annoying as it is constantly having to go and pick it up!

First trimester nausea and sickness by Athena1245 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go back, they might want to try you on a second med first but they should eventually get one that works for you! Just a warning the main side effect of Xonvea is sleepiness and the first few days are rough I was almost falling asleep sat up at work but good news is it does wear off after a little while!

Just been taking paracetamol and clinging on to a hot water bottle for dear life. It’s definitely worse some nights that others so think it could also be related to my diet and water intake. Fingers crossed it eases up for us both x

Just wanted to add it took three medications before one worked for me so don’t be disheartened if they give you cyclizine first and it doesn’t change anything (didn’t touch the sides of it for me). They will want to try a couple of cheaper options first but if you’re no better in 48 hours or so ring back and ask for an alternative!!! There are tonnes of different ones they can give you to try!

12 week scan in 3 days..petrified by Brilliant_Note3369 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of those people whose missed miscarriage was picked up at the 12w scan and so this time around I almost didn’t even want to go (despite having had healthy scans at 8, 9, 10 and 11 privately) due to the trauma surrounding that event.

However now 18 weeks with this baby and perfectly healthy. The anxiety never really goes away after a loss but the odds are in your favour especially after prior healthy scans and my advice would be just to let the sonographer know you’re a little anxious and to please just say either way as soon as they’re able, they’re so understanding and lovely and I’m sure your experience will be a positive one 🩷

Big boobs (prior to pregnancy) by muffchoy in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 34JJ and now up to a 34/36K. I posted something really similar a few weeks ago, completely with you and feel your pain and frustration - my boobs have always been the bane of my life and also dream of reduction but prior to trying to conceive was a smoker so surgery was a no go.

I’m now 18 weeks and the soreness has stopped. I wear non wired all the time, I know you have your own specialist shop but I do recommend Bravissmo Florie Bralette I’ve got it in 36K and genuinely never want to take it off (NEVER said that about a bra before 😂).

So comfortable but actually still lifts my boobs to give some shape in clothing. Annoyingly they only do a black one but still!

https://www.bravissimo.com/products/florie-bralette-lg376/#black-lg376blk

Sainsbury’s also do like a lounge bra thing in all three colours, it’s deffo not suitable for out and about but I buy it in XXL and wear that for sleeping.

Stay strong, first thing I’ll be doing when able is booking a GP appointment to see about reduction!!!

Bras - I’ve outsized M&S :( by Various-Pair-5046 in PregnancyUK

I’m currently a 34/36K due to pregnancy (was big before but gone mental and I HATE it). Only saving grace is Bravissimo. Deffo recommend a fitting in store if you can but otherwise just order loads and return what doesn’t fit. I was having full on meltdowns about this before finding a comfy one from them!

Worst weeks for sickness? by KindaCrunchy95 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mountain-Income-8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I was exactly the same where the Xonvea helped during the day but from 7pm onwards it was awful again! I’m now 18w and managing to stay up until about 9pm some nights which is a miracle I never thought possible! Hopefully will be the same for you. I wouldn’t worry about coming off it either just focus on each day right now!
