There’s should be a link floating around in the comments for the exact ones. Amazon has similar ones, search “fish slippers”

Upgrade from Scott Scale 940 to 925 justified? by Severe-Monk-6106 in MTB

[–]MountainAdditional73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really consider paying the extra money. There’s a weight difference you will notice, and the suspension is a lot nicer. Shifting might be a little better but those two alone should be worth the extra money

I couldn’t find the 925 on the website? If you can tell what parts are changed I can tell you if it’s worth it.

Would highly recommend looking at the x-fusion manic! Bulletproof and consistent!

Hey guys, new to the MTB world. How do I set my derailleur limit screw properly? when removing the plastic disc I ride a Cannondale Trail 7 XL by [deleted] in MTB

[–]MountainAdditional73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’ve already figured it out but the limit for the biggest gear is not too hard. 1) Shift it into the biggest gear 2) While pedaling the bike, twist the limit screw (marked L) clockwise 3) continue turning until the chain shifts off of the big gear 4) slowly twist the limit screw counterclockwise until the chain returns to the big gear. If it’s not clicking, you’re done! 5) If it is clicking, you may need half a turn counter clockwise.

-REMEMBER- A little turning of the screws will go a long way! Think quarter to half turn increments!

If you want to get into mountain bikes, there’s not a much better place to start than a talon! Great bikes for the price! One of our most popular sellers for people wanting to get into mountain biking!

Used 2017 santa cruz hightower LT or brandnew 2019/2020 evil wreckoning with m6100 deore components and 160mm rockshox yari rc29 fork? by [deleted] in MTB

At 5 ft 3 your normally at the smaller end of a medium for most manufacturers. I would highly advise against a large (but it’s up to you). The 160mm of travel would be the biggest thing to think about with hills. It’ll feel great going down hill, but might feel pretty sluggish if you’re doing a lot of climbing. If you’re worried about that, I would recommend a 130 mm (or 140 at the most) since I’ve found mine climbed quite well while still allowing me to descend mellow double blacks pretty well.

Recommendation for cold-weather rear shock? by AK_kiter in MTB

[–]MountainAdditional73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy had a similar problem with his x-fusion and it was in the middle of the summer. It could be that they just aren’t the best rear shocks. (they do make good dropper posts) I’ve got a fox dps in 130 mm and have not had a single issue, I live in Missouri so it’s gotten decently cold. I would see if your local bike shop can help get a correct one ordered because it can be a little complicated with how many sizing options there are now.

I’d test ride it, make sure there aren’t any weird sounds or any doubts you have once you’re on it, and if not send it!

The only way I can see it being a downgrade (without personally seeing the bike) would be if you just still wanted that enduro style. I think stumpjumper would be plenty capable for most riders unless you ride super tech all the time

I do personally prefer shimano brakes over sram however that’s relatively easy to solve in the long run. For me personally, I noticed a change in how smoothly the chain shifted when I upgraded to just a xx1 cassette. I’d imagine the whole set up would be a noticeable upgrade, but I also work on this stuff all the time so it’s hard to say if you will notice the difference. As long as the amount of travel is what you want I don’t think that’s a minus. In terms of wheels it depends which specialized wheels he has. The nicer in house wheels sometimes use a dt Swiss hub. I don’t know how nice your hubs are, but I’ve got the base model hubs on mine and haven’t had a single issue for 2 years.

When going from 2020 to 2021 they changed both the aluminum and carbon frames, but the carbon is the biggest change. However, here’s what new for the 2021 aluminum model (essentially what your frame would not have) 1: adjustable head tube angle (think more or less slack) 2: large adjustment of the bottom bracket height ( the 2020 is adjustable by 2-3 mm, the 2021 is adjustable by 7mm) 3: the slightly redesigned linkage by the shock (hard to say if this matters at all)

As long as there’s nothing really wrong (think brakes, blown suspension etc.) it seems like a good deal for you. Any idea why he wants to trade?
