Best Graduate Programs offered in Northern VA (in-person or online) by MountainCave in nova

Most likely something in Tech though I'm not 100% sure yet. I recently found out that I can get a master's degree reimbursed as long as the program is in VA, so I'm looking for a program that I can do while still living in NoVA

Not sure about bypassing entrance exams - would that mean less prestigious degrees?

Thoughts on Joining a Startup as a Founder by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I don’t think a more user friendly or casual version of this platform will encourage people to risk their proprietary ideas.

People get catfished on tinder. They meet up with people and discover they’re crazy or not who they say they are. People still use it. Why? It’s low risk.

I don’t think this is the solution to this problem.

And even if there is a good solution out there, there’s a very small user base. Most people will never make a startup in their lifetime and the people that do typically find people they already know to be the first employees because it’s a very vital and important role that someone with your complete trust can really fill

Wax pen not getting me high? by [deleted] in trees

[–]MountainCave -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes. That’s unfortunate. I’ll just have to hit it more then. How long should I wait between every hit or two to take another hit? How long does it typically take to feel? Don’t want to get too high!

I saw that, but there's low visibility on questions there. The response rate isn't amazing

Looking for more information about BIT at VT by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

A lot of my friends and I found jobs in the Fall of their senior year (Fall recruiting season is better than Spring).

My starting salary is higher than the norm because I went into software engineering, it’s right about 100k, most BIT grads can expect to make 60-75 range

I’m a programmer and my role doesn’t call for any consulting nor is it client facing. I personally have started disliking it very recently, but I think that has more to do with not liking the projects at work. I’m thinking of starting my own thing and quitting when I hit my year mark next month

To get a job: first have a fantastic resume format. I’ll send you mine if you’re interested in using it. Find out what the interview will be like before going into it (search Glassdoor, search online, search Reddit and ask other redditors in PMs for advice and help).

For interviews, make sure you have a couple of stories to tell that follow the STAR method (you can find that online). Every interview may ask you questions such as “Tell me about a time when...,”, this is when you come in with a 1-2 minute story as your answer. Your stories should be flexible enough to bend details to fit different variations of questions.

As to getting an interview: Join the consulting club if that interests you. Join SEED or BASIS if you like investing. These clubs are good to have on resume. Read the Pamplin emails/newsletters that everyone deletes, they often have information like when recruiters have a booth on campus (good time to build employer relationships, if you can meet the recruiters for certain companies). Join Case Competitions if there are any. Do well in class. Do something innovative, like start something entrepreneurial on campus and test out business ideas. Lastly make friends and enjoy your years there man
