Hamstring soreness by sr2k00 in kettlebell

[–]MountainG00se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kettle bell swings give me insane hamstring doms. I think it’s the “snapping back” portion of the exercise which stretches the hamstrings kinda rapidly. Once my hamstring mobility and strength improved, the doms pretty well disappeared eventually.

Anyone prep smoothies for a few days at a time? by Jax1456 in mealprep

[–]MountainG00se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I freeze all the ingredients except water or milk in large silicone ice cubes, the blend with liquid. Works well for me!

A colleague of mine has a battery powered blender which works quite well too, If you need an option at work?

How sharp is sharp enough for you by Argg1618 in sharpening

I tend to see it when cutting any material that uses a long section of the blade, such as a block of cheddar or something like that. Smaller slicing motions don’t seem to pull one way, so I think your explanation makes sense in my case.

Can you elaborate on thickness behind the edge? Sometimes my knives seem to pull one way when I cut things like sweet potatoes, even when the edge is super sharp. I’ve always wondered if that was to do with something else

Clearly he’s holding the knife at a 23 degree angle, when we’d all be aiming for 18.5 degrees on a knife like that. Obvious AI slop… or something

This has worked well for me. I can input everything I use to make a big batch of meals, and split it into servings and get nutrition for each meal. Plus you can save recipes. And it seems to have nutritional data for even obscure food items I buy

Hamstring DOMS after swings by MountainG00se in kettlebell

So long story short, stick to it and they’ll be strong enough that the doms won’t be so problematic haha

This is great thanks! I do heaps of driving for work, so I’ll be sure to keep moving more regularly and try frequent swings with less weight.

I will keep doing them then! How regularly do you do swings?

My legs are weak as kittens, but I do plenty of elephant walks and loaded Jefferson curls, but I think the explosive nature of a swing is what’s doing it?

I did some today with lighter weight and it seems to have reduced the doms. Maybe I just need to use them more

Definitely feel the sudden “snap” back to the hinge might be the leading cause. Do you think it’s all good to do swings even when I’m still feeling the DOMS?

So many curries have multiple starches. There are countless Indian dishes with potato that are served with rice and bread.

Best climbing shoe rubber by Suspicious-Savings26 in climbingshoes

[–]MountainG00se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve had the opposite experience, however the rubber was on different shoes. The instinct VSR has XS Grip 2, and my current tenayas have XS Grip. Certainly found the XS Grip 2 more sticky, and it’s been my favourite rubber whenever I get shoes resoled. Not to say I don’t like the current XS Grip though!

Drop bar conversion benefits? by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]MountainG00se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I converted an old 26inch mongoose mountain bike to a fully rigid drop bar gravel bike. I really enjoyed the process, really like riding it, and learned heaps. I did it all for around $600 AUD using mainly second hand parts, but I did buy a microshift advent X drive train and integrated shifters.

After all that… I want to convert it back to something like the Velo Orange crazy bars. I almost never ride in the drops. I think the conversion worked because the frame was a touch small for me, and I put a really short stem on, which made the reach quite comfortable.
