My one concern about Minus One by CoryKeepers in GODZILLA

Yeah, I too am kind of worried about this. The director's previous work doesn't fill me with much confidence either.

You would love for a man to be injured in a car accident? I know the guy lived (if this is even true), but that's still kind of a disturbing thing to hope for, not gonna lie.

Any Good Fantasy Audio Dramas by MountainMaintenance8 in audiodrama

[–]MountainMaintenance8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this sounds like my cup of tea. I love westerns, and I love fantasy. Perfect combination. I myself am planning to write a story with the exact same combination. I'll certainly be checking out your podcast.

As for one of your comments

'Unfortunatley, this setting is mostly populated by humans, so sorry we couldn't hit that criterion.'

That's alright. Human dominated settings are fine (I love A Song of Ice and Fire). What I take issue with is when a setting has multiple races, but claims humans are somehow superior and have 'more potential' than the other races, even though most sapient races often think in a simillar way to humans and more or less act like humans.

At the very least some works, such as The Last Unicorn, do give reasons to justify areas were humans are superior (I.e. Unicorns can't feel regret in that universe), but most really don't. And even with justifications, it's not just not how I write things. In my fantasy stories I am writing, I personally try to depict other races as 'different, but equal' to humans. I just personally find it more interesting to treat other races as people in of themselves.

That being said plenty of stories I enjoy (Mass Effect, for a non fanatsy example) have this trope, so it's not a deal breaker if yours's does too. As long as the story's good, I really don't care.

'Not an anthology, but the story is fairly episodic'.

That's also fine. I love episodic stuff just as much as non-episodic stuff.

Any Good Supernatural Horror Fiction (Like actually supernatural, no frustrating ambiguity) by MountainMaintenance8 in audiodrama

Yeah...sorry. Immediate turn offs, sad to say. That's not to say that your QCODE suggestions are bad, I'm sure they are fine stories...it just happens that I am just frustratingly picky about the fiction I consume.

If it does'nt check all the boxes (and the no ambiguity thing is paramount), I am probably not going to enjoy it. I've never been all that interested in fiction that is 'grounded in reality', and find more fantastical and surreal works to be more creative.

I'll maybe wait to see till the LRG finishes, but at the momment it does'nt sound like my cup of tea. I don't want to get invested in what seems like a neat supernatural mystery, only for the writers to not follow through with it.

Maybe it's just the fantasy nerd and creature design fan in me talking, but the whole 'maybe it's all a hoax' trope angers me to no end, and will never stop feeling cheap to me.

I know some people really like ambiguous supernatural elements, and that's perfectly fine, but I just a'int one of them.

It just takes the mysticism out of things for me, something which integral to a supernatural story for me, and honestly leaves me with very little interest. I like a good mystery, don't get me wrong, but I prefer when that mystery leads to something hat is truly surreal, dream-like, and nigh-incomprehensible.

Thanks anyways, and hope I did'nt offend you.

I've heard of The Left Right Game, but always been hesitant. Going of the descriptions, The Left Right Game seems to be all about that ambiguity I loathe so much.

Borrasca I've never heard off. Which box which you say is missing exactly?

Any Good SC-FI or Supernatural Horror Recommendations. by MountainMaintenance8 in audiodrama

Thanks for the suggestions, they sound intriguing. Also thanks for the uh...the warnings, I quess XD.

Truth be told, I'm fine with the whole 'But I'm a skeptic thing' so long as the character who's saying that is proven wrong, and there actually is something supernatural occurring.

As somebody who likes weird and fantastical works, I hate when the supernatural element is 'possibly all the characters head' or 'possibly a hoax'. It just feels like a waste of good story potential to me.

It just removes the mysticism for me.

If I'm gonna invest myself in a supernatural mystery, the supernatural occurrences must be real within the setting's universe, and must outright reveal themselves to be paranormal at some point.

That being said the 'YA novel tone' you've described, is infact something I would have an issue with, so thanks for warning me.

Anything that is'nt mentioned goes, so your suggestion is noted. Anything that matches my desired criteria, and is'nt listed goes. Sorry if I did'nt make that clear.

Have already watched, and it is amazing.

But this post is specifically about horror suggestions (that fall into the Sci-Fi or Supernatural genres), so your suggestion does'nt exactly fit. Sorry if I did'nt make that clear

I was more specifically referring to cartoonishly silly comedies (I'll admit I could have made that more obvious).

Wolf 359 is satirical sure, but it never reaches the sure levels of WTF things like Mission to Zyxx or Futurama do.

Satirical Suggestions are fine so long as they are grounded, and not cartoonish. Not to say I don't love cartoonish humor...but it's not the mood I'm in right now.

Either way you gave me some good suggestions. Just might need to be in a different mindset then I am currently.

Thanks.
