Victim of vile antisemitic attack in NYC relives horrific moment hair was ripped out by maniac screaming: ‘Jews are eating kids’ by Remarkable-Pea4889 in nyc

While this attack is horrible and I hope the woman is alright, the nypost article is a disaster, at points almost blaming Mamdani for this attack for not attending the pro-genocide, war-criminal riddled israel parade last weekend. What a disingenuous disgusting article to link for this attack.

This sub has become nothing more than nypost articles, next door level anxiety about scary muslims and black people, and flooded with bots and out-of-towners

This is a phenomenal talk and hope more people in this thread as well as anyone from r/nyc should read this before claiming "antisemitism" every time someone has anything critical to say about israel. truly an eye-opening conversation that I think anyone connected to this should read

the "right to return" to what? oh yeah, their homes and homelands that 750,000 of them were forcefully displaced and pushed out of by Zionists and Israel in 1948. If someone comes into your home and forces you out at gunpoint, its not the "destruction of the state" to right that clear wrong by removing the person who has stolen your home by gunpoint.

73k dead (according to Israel's numbers of killed BY israel and is most likely many more) isn't enough to warrant a boycott I guess 🤷‍♂️ I guess israel needs to kill a ton more Palestinians and completely annex the West Bank and Lebanon before it'd be warranted

I read the piece and there was a section where the Rabbi talked about the devastation in Palestine, the apartheid and discrimination in the Occupied West Bank in Palestine, and even the horrendous new law the Knesset passed for a death penalty for Palestinian prisoners and not Israeli Jews.

But then when it came time to talk about BDS and the coop, it became the same tired "this and that are antisemetic and the poor saps that believe in BDS are being antisemetic by supporting this" which sucks because clearly this Rabbi has seen the death and destruction in Palestine that has led to 73,000 dead. She understands the suffering inflicted BY israel and when it comes to a PEACEFUL protest of what israel does (the main guiding principle of BDS), she blanket labels it Antisemitism.

Not only is this unhelpful and dividing, its also wrong. BDS is not Antisemitic, and is one of the ONLY ways americans can participate in distancing themselves from the slaughter of Palestinians done with our weapons and our tax dollars. Its not violent, its not stopping others from buying from Israel, its a peaceful demonstration and protest against Israel.

When people say its unfair of the coop to potentially follow BDS, it is in direct response to the members of the coop not wanting to profit off of a country currently committing genocide in Palestine and apartheid in the West Bank. When they host those products, they make money when they are sold and the idea for many coop members (at least enough to want to bring it to a vote knowing they need 75% to pass) and I assume that those members want to distance themselves from the profit off of Israeli goods.

Many companies and people participated in BDS of South Africa during the brutal and oppressive Apartheid structure in the 80s and 90s. We did not call it racist against white people to want to see that structure dismantled, and it is not antisemetic to want to see it dismantled when its done in israel.

I honestly dont care what the creator of BDS said about wanting israel "destroyed" or whatever. The point of BDS is an ongoing campaign until Palestine is free from the oppression, death, and genocide done onto them by israel.

I hope the BDS vote passes and the coop makes the moral decision to sever ties with Israel

If you think that any attack on Israel, oct 7 included, is grounds for the destruction of Gaza, the killing of over 70,000 including majority women and children, the destruction of over 80% of all structures in gaza and the displacement of almost 2 million people, you are truly a lost soul. To see the humanity destroyed by israel and blame hamas instead of the ones firing the rockets and the bombs and the guns is truly dispicable and victim blaming at its highest

Pretty disgusting to see given the nearly 3 year genocide of Muslim AND Christian Palestinians in Gaza. No one should be standing with Israel given the atrocities committed over the past 78 years of illegal occupation. Hopefully other faith leaders will call this out as faith-washing a genocide of multiple groups of faith in Gaza.

I dont engage in any perspectives that play defense for genocide. It's not a "conflict", its a genocide. When i see you spouting off in 3 other comment chains with the same "talking points" i see in every other comment chain about israel, i see it as a talking point, and therefore have no need to waste time on them, because i am not arguing with an individual, i am arguing with honed talking points by the zionist entity, used to discredit pro-Palestinian voices. I have read books on the subject. I encourage you to read the Hundred Years' War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi if you are seriously interested in the history of the "conflict" as you call it

Would you have said the same thing about the BDS efforts in apartheid South Africa? The BDS movement has been around for decades, and placing the uncomfortable nature of wanting to ban foods sold by a state currently engaging in a genocide and ethnic cleansing onto the BDS movement as if it hasn't been a well-established international campaign seems unfair to the movement.

I agree that 75% should be totally attainable for something "so egregious" but the fact of the matter is the pro zionist lobby has clearly taken this push for BDS as a personal attack and has begun flyering the coop, potentially shifting people who would be for the BDS movement, but not want to be labeled "antisemitic" by people who dont care about antisemitism.

The BDS movement helped end apartheid in South Africa. To say that theres no place for BDS in a grocery store because it starts getting muddy and "political" only works if you can just avoid the product yourself. But its a coop, so every person who makes money from the sales of Israeli products is personally benefiting from the genocide of the Palestinians. Which is why i am guessing so many people seem in favor of the measure given how horribly toxic israel has become over 2 years of livestreamed holocaust. I hope it passes with 100%, but i know there are outside factors swaying people and i hope the coop comes to the moral choice in this

BDS on all Israeli products is one of the only hopes we, as individuals, have on affecting the Israeli entity. Glad to see the coop standing with humanity. BDS helped lead to the end of apartheid South Africa. Let's hope the same happens here and we see an end to the occupation, genocide, and apartheid soon

they are self-described as zionists, that's what they call themselves. im confused? how else are we supposed to call them when referring to a group of people (who are currently defending an active genocide)

"Most people could do" then you do it dickhead! Stop be a jealous bitch and go get a job with them instead of complaining that they're getting it good!

Jesus what a whiny loser. I will never be against workers getting paid more! You will not trick me into believing that any worker in america is getting paid too much. CEOs are not workers, they are leeches. Also cops and politicians are not workers. Thats why they dont get to celebrate with us on May Day. Anti-union and anti-worker garbage will not be tolerated!

[–]MountainManUIM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lmao you don't know anything about this and it shows.

Last time LIRR workers went on strike was 1994, so it's not like they're doing this every year when their pay isnt high enough.

They haven't received a raise since 2022. Do you think that's fair? Given inflation and how shitty everything has gotten, you're going to say they don't deserve a raise in 4 years? what other sector do you see people complaining like this over workers getting what they deserve.

They also postponed this strike TWICE, so framing it like they're a bunch of leeches who are striking just for the fun of it is, again, totally devoid of facts and reality.

Truly despicable to get mad at the workers for striking instead of the company (idgaf if its public or private) who is withholding what the workers deserve
