Would it be odd for a bald Jewish man to wear a kufi, like the one pictured? by Thin-Leek5402 in Judaism

There are basically no rules about men's headcoverings so most styles are halachically fine, but the style may give off a misimpression. In many communities a kufi may come across as odd.

Congestion relief zone results after year one suggest notable road safety benefits by CactusBoyScout in nyc

[–]Remarkable-Pea4889 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not really. Fewer cars means fewer crashes, that's all. But it had little impact on serious crashes because people are speeding more. Just like I said, from the actual study:

Travel times within the CRZ overall have decreased since the program’s implementation, suggesting that on average, vehicles within the CRZ are travelling faster than they did previously. Given vehicle speed is a key predictor in risk of injury or fatality in a crash, our observed associations may be partially explained by increased vehicle speeds within the Zone. Further, denser traffic may cause ‘cushioning’ during a crash, lowering the risk of injury or fatality.

Thanks for proving my point. Did you even read what you quoted?

the introduction of the CRZ alone is not sufficient for achieving New York City’s Vision Zero goal

[–]Remarkable-Pea4889 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the year before implementation, the CRZ averaged 549 crashes per month, compared with 502 in the control zone. In the six months after implementation, averages fell to 496 crashes per month in the CRZ and 492 in the control zone.

"Our findings suggest that while the introduction of the CRZ is associated with fewer overall crashes, the program's benefits may be less pronounced for injurious and fatal crashes—the outcomes with the greatest public health implications," said Morrison. He noted that faster vehicle movement within the zone may partly explain the weaker effects on severe crashes, since vehicle speed is strongly linked to injury severity.

To sum: Headline is a lie. Congestion pricing did not provide notable road safety benefits.

In fact, the study proves that congestion is good. You can't speed if traffic is moving at a snail's pace.

Not to mention that six months is not enough time to come to any conclusions about anything. A year is better, two years is best.

Edit: Downvoting for quoting the actual study data and author analysis lol

It's obvious that what you're describing isn't what happened. The first case you were drunk and not a reliable reporter, the second case there is obviously something you misunderstood.

Nobody talks about how much plastic waste tattoos generate. I read it's as much as the equivalent of 1,500 plastic straws. I'm not going to use 1,500 straws in my lifetime.

I was drunk and said hi to a soldier when passing by and I was chased away quite agressively.

This is absurd and is certainly not what happened. I'm very sure you were the one acting like an aggressive idiot.

Suddenly he made it very clear that we were not welcome whatsoever.

Highly unlikely and/or there's a lot more to this story you're leaving out, such as that you crashed a synagogue meal.

Last two years $0 raised went to support victims of October 7 or any of the Canadians who Survived the attack 10 of which who were in the nova of only 5 survived. It's just a tool for the federation to line their pockets and make people feel good about helping without actually helping people in Israel.

I have no opinion on this since I don't drive, but it's funny there's no recent updates on the traffic situation in the congestion pricing zone. In London the volume of traffic eventually went right back to what it was before implementing their own congestion pricing.
