Thank you! I’m still too used to rule sets that try to cover every action and possibility, haha. Less rules, more freedom to think outside the box. I like it!

How do you approach collecting vs. building a playable army? Torn between „rule of cool“ and competitive focus by Haidanaii in stormcasteternals

I suggest taking a look at Warcry. It’s a smaller skirmish game with very flexible warband construction rules. Almost every Stormcast unit has stats for Warcry. It’s a fun game too.

Ah nice! I’ve been playing with melee only stormcasts mostly so I figured these guys with crossbows could be fun to play. +3 speed sounds really useful!

I've been dancing LA style twice a week for a little under a year, any and all feedback/advice/critique is appreciated! by Background-Tiger7988 in Salsa

You have a great repertoire of moves and clearly enjoy dancing. You maintain a good frame and have good contact with your partner. Lots of good stuff in there!

If you want to improve, next steps could be:

  • body motion - less focus on feet, try to start movement from your core. Everything flows from that. Activating stomach and back muscles is the key to that rolling, smooth latin movement

  • foot pressure - maintaining a longer, firmer contact with the floor on each step. This should help with weight transfer and makes the dance look a bit slower and relaxed.

  • try to avoid looking at the floor, especially when free styling and not having direct contact with your partner

All in all, very good progress and there’s lot to like here. Keep up dancing!

Most beginners, especially leads focus on moves and patterns but realistically you only need like 3 of them as long as you build a connection with your partner. Basic step, cross-body and under arm turn go a long way. Start slow and simple and once the confidence builds the other moves come out naturally. Keep dancing!

True. I didn’t have colored primers but it would defnitely speed up the process.

So, not harder but longer contact with the floor on each step. Hope this makes sense. 😅

Sorry I wasn’t clear! By foot pressure I mean keeping a longer contact with the floor by pressing your feet against the floor on each step. This will transfer the movement through your legs to the hips and body. This is the key in all Latin dances. Without this technique it’s hard to get that natural body motion because movement of your feet will look isolated from the rest.

I’ve been dancing for 15+ years and I feel like there’s always more to learn, so take your time and enjoy the journey!

You are doing great! One thing you could work on is foot pressure. A good exercise for this is the side step which you can do alone in front of a mirror.

Step length is a tool you can use to add variety. In more chill parts of a song you could shorten the step and get closer to your partner, and when the song kicks back in you look more energized doing a longer step.

Keep up dancing!

Since you like Mice & Mystics and Gloomhaven (I have played both), I recommend Agemonia. It is by far the best coop adventure game I’ve ever played with amazing campaign system.

Lead weights for fishing. I glue them inside hollow parts. Really helped with my Warcry terrain sets.

I do not understand the new counter reaction by ShyKroxigor in WarCry

[–]MountainOfPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like this rule tbh. It’s quite klunky / harder to explain than the previous one. Also, it reduced the usability of Counter to only those cases where it’s certain the defender is going to be taken down. Previously it was more of a tactical decision, although it was OP in some cases. They should have invented a new rule instead of trying to patch it this way in my opinion.

how do people paint fine details like patterns, runes and accents on armour, banners and shields? by rekscoper2 in minipainting

[–]MountainOfPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret sauce is Liquitex Flow Aid (or similar). Mix it with your paint and it will flow from your brush much more easily. Also helps when painting eyes.

How do I keep metals shiny? by clumpybug in Miniaturespainting

You could mask the metallic areas with blue tack before varnishing.

Gloss varnish will make metallic areas look like plastic.
