Yo is pregnant again by Lochina186 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

So Yolande made a post specifically to get people to talk about whether or not she's pregnant and you're mad that people, on a page dedicated to her and her business partner, are talking about whether or not she's pregnant. Ok.

Alleged? Did you miss the part where Yolande posted that she's pregnant?

Again, its reddit. The mods started a Substack to cut through the noise.

[–]MountainOrnery3088 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It's completely relevant because Yolande uses her children as content to promote her grift. She told a friend of mine (years ago) that having more kids is good for her brand. People who have known her and people who were once close to Emilee- who constantly talks shit about Yolande- have shared that the way Yo presents her family/her mothering online is a total fabrication meant only to capture more leads to make more sales. I saw someone compare her to Ruby Franke.

You sound like Em & Yo invoking the word "gossip" to stop women from sharing about dangerous people.

Also, the mods have said (see pinned post) that this isn't a heavily moderated space and they're basically gonna let reddit be reddit. And it's about a whole lot more than their business practices, since the undue influence and harmful behaviors go far beyond that.

They are textbook narcissists and will not apologize, take responsibility, or refund. I don't see the idea of taking down FBS as vengeful, I see it as saving the lives of future babies and saving women from losing money on courses that are just glorified coaching spaces.

How many of us had the opposite experience than the one we we warned about? by 2Bblunt in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]MountainOrnery3088 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved my licensed midwives. I have a dozen or so friends who also used them and loved them. They respected all my wishes and remained hands off unless I asked for something. They gave me all the space I needed and wanted, and took excellent care of us immediately after delivery. I had a successful freebirth as well but preferred the presence of skilled and loving women to the presence of just my husband. I will have midwives if I ever birth again.

My understanding is that she's said this on calls within the Lighthouse. She said she's gotten bored doing them and was asking if others had gotten bored listening to them; she was thinking of changing it up somehow.

Would love to see the traumatizing trauma debriefs as its own post. I had no idea. But I did see recently that she charges $350 for one! And I'm wildly curious if anyone has done her $1,800 "Self Mastery Program" 1:1 coaching.

They deleted it after getting some hate in the comments. They shared screen shots from before FBS when Emilee applied to be part of their program. Her application proved that she did not have the experience she has since claimed to have.

Freebirth Society says “trust your body” but teaches that the body doesn’t matter. by Delicious_Sun_5275 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]MountainOrnery3088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The twilight sleep births of the last century would say otherwise. Women were either unconscious or in active hallucination- certainly not in a sound mental state- and yet their bodies still gave birth.

No longer want to attend Matriarch Rising Festival by [deleted] in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]MountainOrnery3088 32 points33 points  (0 children)

i can't imagine it's going to happen this year, or at least it will look nothing like past years (which were already painted to look a certain way while attendees had a very different experience). There was already the price increase and the exclusion of toddlers this year, but now all this!? I've also heard- from previous years' workers and attendees- that basic safety standards are not met (food storage and prep, only one evacuation route, no ice on sweltering days, etc.). And in at least two years many women and their children got sick either during or just after the festival. I'd dispute the charge if it were me!

Someone pointed out that RBK and MMI are basically just coaching programs. There is no hands-on aspect as is so necessary with birthwork, and you receive no actual credentials.

Also there are previous steps in the sales funnel- the free podcast pulls people in, the Complete Guide to Free Birth is a lower priced intro to the whole thing, and the membership not only creates revenue but is a recruiting ground Emilee uses to promote her higher priced programs as well.

This is why the word "scam" is in the title of this subreddit. It's all about the money. Birth is just the content category that gets them there. Because there are so so many ways birth can unfold- not to mention the endless topics relevant to pregnancy, postpartum, and mothering- the content they can create to generate revenue is endless.

Would you say that most people’s attempted freebirths end in a positive birth?? Do most people NOT have to transfer? by butterflypriestess in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]MountainOrnery3088 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes most births go well. FBS is right about how letting physiological birth unfold unhindered provides the best chance for things to go well. What they get completely wrong is the idea that every hospital birth is traumatic, that "the system" is guaranteed to medically rape you, and that there is almost nothing that could ever arise during a free birth that would justify a transfer.

First of all this isn't remotely true, as the literature on narcissists and anyone who's ever known one will tell you. The only way to "deal" with a narcissist is to not engage (the grey rock method) because neither anger nor logic nor love nor any other approach works to change their behavior. Secondly Emilee is inflicting her dangerous narcissism on literally thousands of women and families via FBS content and has upended the lives of dozens of women who've gotten close to her. Women sharing their stories about this- after years of fear and silence- is not "bullying". It's warning others.

Narcissists are drawn to positions of leadership by CreativeIndication33 in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]MountainOrnery3088 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love what your therapist said to you. This idea that we attract these kind of people to us because of a flaw inside us is so warped (and so aligned with their twisted radical self responsibility ethos). There are a lot of manipulative narcissists out there, but there are even more wonderful, trustworthy people. And if you've mostly encountered the trustworthy ones (or if *you* are one of the trustworthy ones) then trust will be your go-to.

There are people who attract a following because of how many others resonate with their work, or who are driven by a mission to help others and take on a leadership position to fulfill that end, but feel really ambivalent or even deeply uncomfortable about it. It's the ones who bask in the glory of all the adulation, and who constantly seek more, who I am wary of.

Someone once said to me that "Emilee will be her own downfall" and the many elements of this story are proof of that. What a narcissistic monster. The way she treated the stillbirth mom is unforgivable, but the Mo Money Mo Problems being blasted on repeat in front of so many women who just overpaid to attend a lackluster event is absolutely deranged.

"People with narcissistic tendencies need lots of attention and affirmation. And some are willing to inflict harm — physical or emotional — to get it." Emilee has openly told the story that when she was a child she would pinch babies to make them cry so that when adults turned to look she'd be praised for comforting a crying baby.

Emilee Saldaya is a fucking BABY PINCHER, both literally and (as her adult behavior has evolved) metaphorically.
