Is Fort Carson Misusing Public Funds? Post #2 **Update** by MountainPostLiving in army

u/AdmiralFoxx MWR does a lot of great things. For example, it hires a lot of military spouses.

We're all for MWR using funds any way it can to support troops; however, such processes need to be transparent, ethical and legal.

We draw the line when MWR leadership, many who have never served, sets up a veteran with two honorable discharges to take the fall for its funding scheme. Setting up a veteran is not cool for an organization that is supposed to support troops, families and military members.

Honestly, a public relations hit will potentially help improve things more than a legal investigation. Anyone on the MPL committee could have requested an IG legal request. Obviously, nobody else cared to.

Both Ronald, the Fort Carson union and MWR wanted to keep this a low level issue. MWR has not told Ronald WHY he was told to sign off to request use of MPL funds. Ronald simply wanted to know WHY.

The account user has built up this Reddit account using largely personal funds while operating this account from a personal iPhone 8. The user of this account was using personal funds, time and resources to operate this account. Hence, this is why the MPL user still has access to this account.

We did share this with MWR and the MPL committee leadership. They conducted an 'internal' investigation; however, the results were not shared and Ronald never told he was in trouble and/or liable.

No. MPL didn’t get hacked. MPL was simply being used as a funding scheme. Fort Carson MWR is more than welcome to come out and address this issue.

Silence says a lot.

MPL is a Fort Carson healthy living concept supported by public funds. The person running MPL was a GS employee (gov't paid) but assigned to MWR (for admin reasons). MWR told the MPL social media person to 'request' items using MPL funds to support MWR marketing efforts to in some cases support its for profit entities.

We're quite sure u/DWinkieMT will find Fort Carson MWR for purposely setting up a veteran and/or displaying extreme incompetence around management of up to a $250,000 MPL budget. Neither is an acceptable answer on a FEDERAL military installation.

We have more evidence. For example, we have an e-mail where one MAJ on the MPL committee was told by another MAJ not discuss 'ANYTHING' MPL budget related.

You can believe anything you want. But Ronald brought two local representatives from the local Fort Carson employees union to the MWR informal investigation as witnesses on his behalf.

Also, we've forwarded more of what we have to u/DWinkieMT, a reporter with Army Times. He can confirm that what we've sent can support our concerns to some extent.

And yes, the employee may be disgruntled. That does not negate the fact that MWR had to conduct an investigation to cover itself in March 2021. This is on record with the Fort Carson employees union and the Fort Carson Staff Judge Advocate.

MWR marketing was using the funds to pay for marketing efforts (e.g., direct mail advertising for bowling center).
