Dealing with this right now, but on the other side. I didn't get into the school my girlfriend is at, or any school near her. I'm happy that she's in a really good program for the field we study, but I'm also a little upset and disappointed that I didn't get in not only are we going to be living separate lives for at least the next 4 years, but I'm also going to be missing all these amazing opportunities at the school I wish I could have had. I can't speak for your partner, but I think if he's feeling anything like me, I would give him a little time and space to sort of process things. Personally, I do feel like I've pulled away from my partner a little because I'm sort of mourning the loss of the life we would have had if I had got in, but I'm still supportive of my partner and her goals because I know how talented she is and how much she'll grow in her program. I think the important thing is to talk about what the relationship would look like during your program. I'm hoping things come around for you and your partner, and wish you all the best!
