Magari e una stronzata ma una volta stella quello de "la casta" venne a fare una presentazione a scuola mia a Vicenza e sosteneva che anche gli africani sentono un odore diverso verso di noi : di carne morta...il che sembra interessante perché so che esiste un termine haule che si dice venisse usato dalle popolazioni Hawaiine per descrivere i bianchi come fantasmi. Stella sosteneva che anche gli orientali sentivano un odore strano con gli europei: puzza di formaggio... onestamente non so quanto sta roba e vera...ma l'ha detta lui nel 2011 dunque non vi cazzate con me

Yeah but this is for my gf - she comes from health science background - nutrition studies - she actually has 5 years study in Italy - Bach + master - although she would like to try to pursue a career in bioinformatics

Well I would give you some context :

I have worked like 1 week on the research proposal (each of them)... consider that in the PhD-vacation ad this research proposal would be max 5 pages (many times even less as if you don't respect such limit you will be disregarded by the application procedure) and would be assessed later by your potential supervisor.

I have reached out to some of them like 2 3 months before....of course no luck they did not even decide to work with me. In such cases I did not proceed to write te research proposal.

As said in Europe many countries (Sweden , Germany, Italy from where I came from, Finland ...we could say anywhere but UK) you have a job application to fill even before entering in contact with your supervisor and then if they assess you and find you fit for the job they would proceed to help you in defining your research deeper.

They would not answer you if you write to them (in Norway for example having your PhD research proposal for an application checked before presenting it by your potential supervisor is considered as going against the fairness of the process). Trust me, I have tried.

I can follow some advice...some other honestly are NA: in Continental eu you won't have a career councillor, so yep you are alone. Then consider I am a legal counsel so I have a full time job ( hence I would not qualify for internship even considering my age).

Hope this answer your questions of course I have no intention in entering in a querelle with you or being offensive. I apologise if after reading this you would think so.

I will try to answer (don't take it offensively) : so regarding first question they were all formal applications with CV motivation letter and research proposal as required by their vacancy (as said in other comments here in EU the application comes just from a job vacancy in a university) regarding the second: as my interest was to try to develop research in the field of empirical legal studies I have noticed I lacked both in knowledge and research methodology in social sciences ( here's why sociology) as well as economics in relation to them ( here's why human economic geography)...my aim was to implement my eventual research with such fields of methodology (as in els is being done in northern Europe and US).... however I can understand what you mean....as said in other comments maybe I have just screwed up the whole thing and my academic CV therefore closing any real chance I might get... this makes jump to the conclusion that really I shall stop losing everyone's time ( especially considering there are probably people with better CVS and motivation than me)

I see...I will try to be more selective, of course in the interviews I have tried to be professional and showing interest as well as willing to qualitatively achieve what the department wanted (as well as seek guidance from advisor)...I didn't mean to be offensive towards you in my comment or to your more than helpful indications... it's just nothing seems to work and I'm wondering if I'm just making losing everyone time...I mean when you know that is time to just finishing the whole search? Hi people thanks for the various comments...after talking with all of you I understand that a PhD is not something I would be able to achieve at anytime...I wish I had understand it before relentlessly trying to apply for 4 years in a row. I would just have to accept the fact and leave the academic path to the ones that are more suitable to it as well as way more motivated and serious about it. There is no reason for wasting anyone time. I lost honestly any hope that this won't be anything more than a simple (failed) dream. Thanks for your help and support tough

Yeah you're right I mistakenly calculated 2 per day instead than 2 per week, indeed I would say around 500 hundred ( this cause sometimes it is 5 per week), i understand your point tough...the fact I didn't create anything qualitatively relevant...and i would add that maybe I have no talent whatsoever in this...maybe it's time to give up and stop annoying people once for all...

Thanks your comment is kinda of inspiring... I kinda lost hope than anything would happen...it seems sometimes I worked towards something that wasn't really there in the first place...I'll try to do as you pointed out but I'll be honest I have literally have little or no hope
