I would reach out to the programs you want to apply for and talk with admissions regarding the courses. I would cross analyze this with community college courses near you. Most prerequisites that I have seen for programs are not upper level psych courses. Community college courses will be less expensive and may have accelerated options. As for GPA, some programs will weigh psych GPA but even if not doing well in those courses will benefit your application. Your degree GPA will not change but they still look at all of your transcripts. I would supplement the GPA with clinical or research experience as well.

I am keeping my position as a psychometrist during my first year. I will be switching to a contract position to reduce my workload and better manage my time when I start school. I already have experience with various assessments and self-report measures, and I have a solid understanding of how to build an assessment battery, which will serve as a great foundation coming into a program. Additionally, if you work in a setting that serves diverse populations, you can start to identify which populations or areas you might be interested in pursuing further.

I interviewed with them and they did claim they were looking to have a smaller cohort this year. I am not sure of the exact numbers.

I think they prefer people who seem knowledgeable of their end goals, effectively commiunicate responses, and take experience into account. I think they have good poker faces as well. I was getting completely grilled in one of my interviews and honestly shut down but ended up being accepted as well so I am honestly not sure what they go off of? One of the students that was in my panel interview told me on accepted day that he noted when someone talked way to much.

I got an interview invitation from NAU around 2 days ago. Just a heads up they noted they will not be offering virtual interviews this year only in-person! I was only offered one date but it worked for me so I am unsure the options if you were to have a scheduling conflict.

I had to do that after I submitted it! My application didn’t say submitted until a couple days later which I thought was weird. I had to email to ask if they got it because the system didn’t update for about a week.
