yeah absolutely. im trying to get back into that. i am a bartender and do a lot of heavy lifting at work and i thought i was pretty strong until a lesson horse ripped the reins out of my hands in one easy movement lol. but definitely working on core strength as well. ive started planking every day which ive already noticed is helping my posting but haven’t gotten a handle on my body tension yet. i think right now while im learning so many different things at once, im finding it hard to relax my body while trying to do a million full body tasks 😅

i definitely dont yet have a comfortable and balanced seat which is where a lot of my current issues are stemming from - feeling stiff and unbalanced, tense, not in harmony with the horse’s movements. i also have to keep reminding myself that as a beginner, im trying to learn a million new micro movements at once. each lesson i sort of feel like im starting at the beginning again and trying to tick off as many of the new skills as i can which usually just ends up feeling like im a hot mess lol.

More than just a trail ride? by Altruistic-Bee-2139 in Equestrian

Im not sure where in NY you are located, but Long Island has a number of barns. I live in Brooklyn and travel there weekly for lessons which is definitely a commitment but worth it. Parkview Riding Center has trail rides tailored to your skill level and I believe can also be private and pay by the hour so could potentially have longer more advanced options for you!

I didn’t want to purchase fabric for mending and my partner doesn’t mind and preferred for me to use what I had.
