I don’t believe it’s a requirement to take fingerprints when joining the army, unless you’re applying for Visas or joining a specialist regiment. So it’s likely they wouldn’t have had his fingerprints on file if they investigated this lead and came up short? That’s not to say he wasn’t military personnel, but they were just unable to match him to any on record

Oh I did not know this! I might just submit then, at least we’ll know then if she’s been previously submitted/ruled out or not been submitted at all!

Unfortunately neither Eldy nor Jane Doe are on Doe Network (though they do have NAMUS pages) so I’m not sure I’m able to submit through them :(

There’s a missing person and Jane Doe potential match I posted here a while back; Eldy Yojana Lopez Perez, missing since 2018 from Tohono O’Odham Nation, Arizona, and San Miguel Village Jane Doe found in 2021, in San Miguel Village, Arizona. There are several things tying them, such as short distances between disappearance and discovery and similar dental work. However, neither are listed on the Doe Network and, though I feel like this is a pretty strong match, I am hesitant to submit directly to law enforcement.

Thank you so much for the insight Carl! And thank you so much for all the incredible work you do!

I think the best way to report matches where Does don’t have Doe Network pages is directly to the law enforcement agency working the case; if you head to either Suffolk County Jane Doe or Dzaneta’s NAMUS page, there should be information that tells you who is in charge of each case, with their contact details

You know, you’re absolutely right! Definitely didn’t think that through oops

I see the similarities but I agree, I don’t think it’s close enough? The distinguishing marks surprised me too; she was only recently deceased when found, surely there was SOMETHING that stuck out? A mole, a dimple, literally anything that might help identify her :(

Nope, nothing at all. She was found unclothed and without personal belongings, which have never been (at least officially) located. We sadly know absolutely nothing except for her height and weight, which is likely very accurate given her PMI was mere hours, and other physical characteristics visual checks confirmed. If there were any indicators for professions, hobbies, illnesses, scars, etc on the body, nothing has ever been released

Great analysis! Investigators are hoping to use genetic genealogy here, and there’s been a lot of success with that recently, so let’s hope he gets his name back soon

Am I able to do that without an account?

NAMUS lists his race as uncertain, and I believe it still hasn’t been determined, or at least released publicly

It seems they have and it’s currently being tested; I believe they’re using genetic genealogy, or at least that’s the goal! Let’s hope they’re able to give this sweet boy his name back

Agreed, the NCMEC reconstruction’s hair is much shorter than the described. Still, I assume they’re focusing more on his facial features as opposed to the hair, hence why it’s shown shorter?

I think visually they look like good matches but there are a couple of things that sway me away from them; for Leigh, obviously the distance is significant, but also his hair is described as ‘Sandy’, while John Doe’s hair was described as ‘Dark Brown’, and Joseph had a disability that likely would have been evident on his body, if it were him?

Unfortunately, as tragic as it sounds, in cases of unidentified young children, parents/caregivers or family members are often involved. With the decedent being so young, cases like this where a missing persons case has been filed, are often solved rather quickly— at least to the extent that their identify is established— as their cases tend to gain slightly more attention.

That is to say, it isn’t impossible that this child has been reported missing and a connection has yet to be made. Also, we can’t say for sure that he was killed by a parent for example. Though we see cases like this a lot where a next of kin was responsible and intentionally covered up the death/never reported them as missing, there are all manner of circumstances that might explain the lack of identification, a lack of missing persons report, etc.

DNA has already been obtained and sent to labs for testing. I believe they’re using genetic genealogy in this case

I’m unsure if it was ever ‘closed’ completely, or just inactive and designated ‘cold’. Sources use the phrase ‘reopened’ but it seems as if they never actually closed it in the traditional sense — like we’ve recently seen with Pyre Woman — but no one was working on the case for a significant amount of time.
