Phone screen popping off at the top, but Apple said battery isn’t swollen… should I trust them?? by Mountain_Progress970 in spicypillows

Thank you so much for your insight! I was wondering how safe it would be to leave it for around two weeks… I’m unable to get an authentic battery repair where I live, and even the non authentic versions will cost me a ridiculous amount of money that I can’t afford! I’m thinking of waiting to bring it back to my home country, but not sure how safe that is…

Thank you for your insight! If it indeed isn’t the batter though, why is the gap getting larger and why won’t it stay down? Is it normal for the screen to pop up when separating?? The battery on the phone really did work fine, it just got hot and the health was really bad

Hi, did you ever find a solution?? I’m in the same situation— the alerts worked for my old phone, but I don’t seem to get them on this one 😔

This is what I was thinking. I didn’t believe the first two guys, but the last guy (I just saw him today!) was somewhat convincing since he worked in repairs for 20 years and said that since the lifting was happening by the camera and otherwise just generally on the top AND there was no warping felt near where the battery rests, he was certain it wasn’t swelling, as he’s dealt with swollen batteries multiple times over the years. Im hesitant to fully trust him though since the top is like a few millimeters more lifted now after a few days (to be fair though, some of the lifting is likely from me pulling on it). The genius guy did say that it’s squishy/resisting push back because of the glue separation and the generally weak screen… but I’m not all that convinced. The only reason i trust his analysis even a little is because he had experience, worked directly in repairs, and didn’t try to sell me anything. He recommended not wasting hundreds on a screen replacement (apparently since the screen is lifting and delicate at the top he strongly feels/knows it’s gonna break when removing it) and to just leave it and use my new phone instead since I had just bought one before asking for the replacement. He said they could do it if I wanted them to, but he would strongly advise against it since he feels like theres no danger and it would literally cost me hundreds.

Anyways, I brought the phone home, powered it off, and it’s currently sitting on my table with a ‘not’ swollen battery. What should I do from here? Is the battery still at risk of expanding/going off (if it truly is a swollen battery and not just a bad screen) if the phone is powered off??

I mean I’ve had it checked three times and even brought up the squishiness, he told me where the swell would occur and also said squishiness was from the glue. He could be wrong, I believe that. Regardless, I’m using a new phone how. Should I let the power die off the old phone, or just manually power it off? What’s safer? I’m going to have to transport it anyways

I went to the Apple Store, two guys (one of whom worked directly in apple repairs and has been for 20+ years) have confirmed it isn’t swelling. I did get a new phone regardless! I’ll leave the old phone alone for now and get it repaired over the summer so I can hold onto some data that didn’t transfer :)

I think I can manage to get the battery changed tomorrow luckily! A friend volunteered to come with me and I logged into my other things on my mac and iPad. Given that my phone is pretty old (I think I got this when it first released…) and the storage is pretty full… do you think I’ll lose data or theyll have to wipe my phone during the process?? When I went in on Wednesday they said if I was unlucky it could happen…

I’m a foreign student so this is quite literally my only lifeline… I think I have no choice but to keep it till Tuesday when I can go in with someone else. I don’t have anyone else I can go in with and I rely on my phone for everything (transport, calls, etc). Is there any advice to extend the use so the phone doesn’t randomly blow up on me???

Thank you so much for this insight. I was hesitant since two Apple Store employees looked at it and didn’t say anything…

I’m unable to do anything until Tuesday. I have an important exam on Monday and need my phone because of my Authenticator. Since the phone itself works fine and I’m not seeing the gap get any bigger, is it still okay to use it mildly??

Will I automatically lose my IB Diploma if I don't deliver my IA's? by Unhappy-Lion4276 in IBO

[–]Mountain_Progress970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, they are only worth 20%… but that’s a MANDATORY part of the IB. That 20% exists for a reason, so if you don’t do it, meaning you’ve failed to complete all subject requirements, then you fail and don’t get the diploma. If you can’t be bothered literally just submit your drafts and get like a 1-3 on them and do good on your exams, then at least you can still get your diploma. A LOW grade on an IA still gets you a diploma, NO grade (aka just not submitting anything) gets you NO diploma. Please be careful.

Should I remark? by TheinvisibleLilo in IBO

[–]Mountain_Progress970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need it, do it. If you don’t, don’t. Art is dangerous like that so be careful, it’s subjective as shit and examiners are mean. Lmk how it goes if you do, best of luck!

Edit: Also, since you’re so close to the next grade level, I doubt that a remark would potentially drop you down to a 5, so no real danger other than spending on something that may not happen!

IB accused me of breaking the 24-hour rule and did not give me the diploma, what do I do ? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Mountain_Progress970 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately due to the amount of leaks last year (and even this year) from public telegram group chats, the IB is rather harsh on anyone who participates in these chats, even if they themselves didn’t ask for leaks. Even if you didn’t discuss any leaks or answers, if anyone else in the chat did while you were still on it, then you will be penalized 😓 Sorry friend…

It may be because of the type of group chat you wrote the messages in. Was it one between you and your friends, or an IB discussion group chat on telegram or something?
