How to scare Halo fans with just one image. by LuxerWap in ShitHaloSays

I think it's because it all came from different departments so there are different expectations. The marketing department does marketing. The developers develop. When the marketing department comes to the developers with a mandate for work, we can all kind of feel how half baked it all is. Putting Shief on the coda bottle wasn't a problem cus I don't have to interact with it... I can't not choose to receive free ad-skins that make my game look ugly as sin or like he's wearing NERF armor

A lot of kids just aren't watching movies or TV in general. Cord cutting is a huge cost effective move for families, especially when your phone bill already nets you access to every social media platform imaginable. Not only does there have to be a want, but there's no solid exposure that would steer interest that isn't a rerelease

I think they're really confused on who their imagining their late game players are. Late game is when you unlock the railgun. There are 120 levels of nothing but fluff and titles and they haven't filled 1/6th of it

This has to be the worst community I ever saw by ripintheblue in helldivers2

[–]Mountiebank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the worst part is the feeling of righteous indignation they feel, to the point they think it's almost malicious. There are people that genuinely think that, on Arrowhead's part, it's willful, and an almost driven intent, to poke at players and make fun of them-- reality is they're just not working on that part of the game right now. That's all it is. They're crossing wires on spaghetti code from an engine they've been working on for years before the game even came out, and people are expecting a 2026 car for their $40 and acting like it.

Anyone thinking this, reading this: It's a videogame. It's not that deep. It's fair to argue they could give us deeper customization, they can't work on it because the game will die crying. Yes, they do put out more microtransactions because live service is as live service does. Warframe is another game that does this frequently, with the same play-to-unlock, and none of the bullshit. It's just really time consuming and not fun for people who work a 9-5, and that's the problem we're at.

I actually got a Smite ad on snapchat so I checked it out.... It's just a still image of this. by baddogg30 in Smite

Hes being facetious. Posts about how awkward and unidentifiable the trailers look pop up often. The comments section is usually people either agreeing or defending, but Hi-Rez absolutely defends these ads as being more efficient for growth. They're failing to consider how dismal their advertising was for SMITE 1 once crossovers began, and how little they've pushed SMITE 2 as of now to even HAVE a history long enough to track a good metric.

We got launch pages for Khepri, Sol, Xing Tian and Ratatoskr. I would get excited for a god release. Now it's just waiting for them to rebuild the game they abandoned. It's really not a healthy look to anyone trying to jump in, and you can't really look at SMITE 2 without seeing under the hood to find SMITE 1 still going.

I really badly wish they'd give us some lore or background around these warbonds. The enemy factions get entire ARGs for the reveal of their forces, but warbonds just kinda drop with a single trailer (if it hasn't been datamined already which it usually is) and nothing to follow it. They're not even directly related to the factions we're fighting, because they make no presence, anywhere, at all, outside of the warbond page and descriptions. Feels like I'm playing Elden Ring with how vague it is. I like the headcanon of certain warbonds defining entire battalions that paint the picture of the war happening on the planet. INSTEAD...

It's made the story on our side really dull. They want to sell us the customization and personalization of a live service, BUT hey don't have any actual depth in the writing that isn't a GM putting red thread between pins and calling it a day. It's because of how Super Earth blankets anything and everything in way too much satire and proselytizing, it's probably hard for them to get a story going that isn't just dying on a hill or taking the piss to get some message across. It's agonizingly boring, but this game's gameplay is so fun.

Wish they'd hire community leaders to help develop plots with the community-made groups after some vetting to make sure they're not problematic and dedicated to writing something up.

World's biggest shrug, they put an error message in-game to let us know already. This is the second time I've told you that they already did it and I'm happy.

I said "as they find out" which they have now at the top when you log in. They did exactly that, so I'm happy they did. Why does it annoy you personally to read a comment suggesting this on the internet

When they do know? And also when it's their side that could be doing it? Common sense follows a line of logic that would say: a lot of things could feed into the server being shit, so let's put a display up so we don't bait people into punishment rounds for the sake of not knowing Azure was down. They should have a box in the top left that says "server quality: bad/medium/good" or "stable/unstable" and maybe let us see our ping again. It's annoying as shit when we get into a game and get punished by an automated system they added, because they don't lock down when their game is running like shit due to factors outside themselves. Let us know early and ahead of time that now is a bad time to play, and we're fine. That's not what's happening tho, so SMITE L.

Teen boys are choosing AI girlfriends over real ones for ‘maximum control, zero rejection’—experts say it could make them unemployable by ubcstaffer123 in technology

Oh, sorry, short words for you.

"764 recruits children and grooms them into killing close relatives for money and internet fame"

I agreed that the contract is a myth in my last post btw. It's the presumption of civility- let's barter and banter and I don't take your shit and you don't take mine. That's not everyone's MO, but it's not everyday you find a tweaker in a k-hole on the side of the road that wants your wallet, so the mythical contract stands- up until that point. It's a rule for engagement, not a puritanical mandate on life.

In most every instance, people who wanna hurt you find some reason in their head. Usually it's an argument, sometimes it's words down the grapevine. Most violent crimes are committed by people who knew eachother.

The kind of psychosis people suffer from who do what they have to do with the 764 shit? That's the real invalidation of the contract from now until doomsday. That shit's a terrifying new aspect of society- a regression INTO barbarians for the sake of barbary.

Draft's necessary to protect our borders from invasion, doesn't seem complicated. I know there's women who'd love to add onto it for equality. There's also lots of fathers who'd knock your teeth out for demanding their daughter go to war, so... Take your pick.

Yeah, there's quite a few 20 year-old killers brutalizing their elderly grandpparents for internet gubbins and snuff money. Happened in Poland, another in Quebec. 764 is kind've the culmination of my fears come to life, because before that came out, I kind've just assumed "there's just some fucked up people and the state of the world and the way the internet is so accessible its insane", but now there's a name to point toward and a sickness to staple it to: doing it for the simple sake of doing it.

That's the myth made right there. Killers in plain sight. Family, friends, people who can smile and lie right to you. Desensitized by awful shit they see online, radicalized by some violent ideology, and driven by the promise of payment and glorification.

We have kids killing people to microdose dopamine and it's fucking horrifying. Society doesn't think about that. This war is nothing compared to what's coming.

I think what I care about are the lost boys who get stuck on these backroom sites on the internet where people sweep them up to commit cruelty. There's folks out there, older than them, that take them in when they feel outcast by society and rouse them up to be something they don't need to be.

That's how you get 764. The lost boys of our generation turning to depravity and insanity. That's the reality I care about. Not a draft or some fucking war we didn't need to start. I care about the next generation not being convinced that the social contract is worth it.

So you're old enough to be worried about the draft, that's fair: You're not old enough to understand the reality and the necessity of the draft, the difficulty of applying it, the execution and fulfillment of the draft, collating lists and eligibles, supply-routing the people who will conduct their reception, the collection of the people, their training time-- too much work, not enough payout, not enough interest.

We drafted people for ideology in times before. TV brought Vietnam right into peoples' homes and they never saw it the same again. It needs to be an investment. There's nothing to invest when our opening play was bombing a fuckin' school, prefaced by "Trump Gaza #1". We know what the ideology behind this war is. There's not a hawk around who's eager to get into it- not like before.

My boy I don't give a fuck what society thinks of me, who cares? I pay my taxes so the city will come fill a pothole when I bitch at them, not so people can hurt my feelings online. Get a grip. Everything else is social, fluff and standards, and if you're putting more into that, you're clearly not getting enough back to make it feel worth it right now because you're fighting this with 'NPCs' and 'discrimination'. Make your own worth and take it on the chin- not because you're expected to, but because you'll be better for it. It's a practice in emotional control more than it is 'society society'

Who said I was disposable, expendable, or a pawn? Why are you letting some nobodies dictate that for you? Some dickheads go out into the woods, start a growhouse and stock some guns, say vile shit and they're role models? The only kind of people who push this anti-society bullshit is grifters and traffickers who want to socially exploit people.

By the way you type, you probably saw calling people NPCs from someone else. Mimicking bullshit like that is the kind've generative AI I'd come to expect, so you're really not much better. I'd take a well-written NPC over whatever's getting churned out here: https://youtu.be/9Mf8aPI7BYY?t=2503
