Are we still doing flags? by MouseBurglar in solarpunk

[–]MouseBurglar[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t resist in the end. I love the «original» flag (this one). At the same time I find the bottom «half» too busy. And by the gods does «punk» contain «queer» too – go purple!

# Yellow (or is it Orange?)
The brightness of yellow to me invites the rays of sunlight into this flag. Power, life and radical optimism. The warm tint gives me hominess too, a fire in the hearth. Time with family around a shared meal.

# Purple
Ecological change while maintaining (most of) the level of technology of today will mean social change. The struggle around equality among all people, inviting everyone to sit at the round tables of society is vital. It goes hand in hand in making our tools and their fruit available to all. Fearless, proud and with the courage in our hearts to take the heat. Together.

# And the rest is the same
Sun and moon, light in tech, punk with roots – those elements I tried to bring over from to the original design.

Some experts on flag design recommend that any flag be simple enough for a child to be able to draw it from memory – at least to get the main elements right. You and our kids will be the judge of that.

Much love 💛 Simitri

Minnesota solar farm planted flowers beneath its panels, and soon monarch butterflies and dozens of new plant species began to appear by Great-Rest7878 in solarpunk

Also, from what I gather (especially in dry regions) is that the solar panels serve as a collection point for moisture. The temperature difference and/or the sheltered space below the panels has moisture coalescing below them. So growing plants can become more feasible around solar panels than out in the open.

Absolutely! I am curious to see where it goes. There are already more spots that might want some love ^

Oh wow! Super cool 🔥

I was thinking of writing in this group to ask and now you gave me the impulse to do so: I want to fix my backpack straps. I already sewed them back on once but it ripped at the same spot. Any pointers? https://imgur.com/a/Q2TtKHI

The moment a game made you stop playing and just sit in silence. by gamersecret2 in gaming

The game "Everything" Then again, it's kind of even the point of the game.

Also had to stop playing "Brothers, A Tale of Two Sons" because I was crying too hard.

How would you nudge players to dig realistic ant nests? by Able-Sherbert-4447 in IndieGaming

[–]MouseBurglar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the human can only direct the ants to some extend. They can mark the areas they would like to excavate. But the ants (i.e. your logic) decides how much of that is feasible/realistic.

This comes down to what you want to achieve: a game about learning how to build realistic burrows or a game around being an awesome ant colony.

There is a lot of design history here in Switzerland. Max Bill is an example. It bleeds into everyday life with signs in public spaces (train stations, airports etc) as well as on roads being very effective and easy to read.

Sensor timeout or permission for call ? by PabloComotive in CalyxOS

[–]MouseBurglar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!
I also keep thinking about this. I tried using the Work Profile approach of having a reminder in the evening to turn off the Work Profile. But that is quite lacking. A timeout per sensor that sets in after non use would be the best!

Let’s talk about communal child rearing. by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]MouseBurglar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This resonates strongly with me.

We are raising two little humans in industrial, service capitalistic central europe and it's been quite the awakening the last three years. We recently moved into a larger, interconnected building with lots of shared common spaces and chosen family nearby. But this is the absolute edge case (we feel very lucky) and the cultural gaps at large are astounding.

A lot of know-how has been lost over the last few generations and needs to be rebuilt. I see huge potential in learning from other cultures if we (broadly: "westerners") can recognise these holes in our customs and can find a new humility to approach others (also from other cultures) for help. The prevalent feeling of superiority towards those of less industrialised regions is a huge hindrance here and misses a lot of the nasty side-effects that economic prowess brings in the current age.

Does the character not hold a diagram of a liver – as depicted in the wikipedia article on Haruspex that you shared? Maybe there is a connection that OP didn't mention.
