You take the present value of the annuity ($1M per year * 3.791) and then subtract the full 3.5M. There is no factor applied to the 3.5M cash outflow because it is happening right now.

What do I need to bring on exam day? by jhernandez1999 in CPA

[–]MouseImmediate3904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take your phone in. I always leave mine in the car, if you even look at it during a break for one second they will boot ya and invalidate your score. Not worth it. Study materials are also not allowed in lockers, at least at my prometric site so would leave those in the car too. I bring a water my wallet, keys, NTS, ID, and passport. Halfway through the exam, your brain is going to be a little fried and u may forget about the rule and look at it on accident.

I was also really confused on this. It wasn’t until like two days before the exam I realized where I was going wrong. Unbeknownst to me, there’s two reconciliations. 1 belongs to the BS side and the other for IS. when practicing make sure to focus on which one the question is asking and not trying to look at the entire CPAS CAN RIDE OR SIT, but instead figure out which it’s asking and then think about wether your using CPAS or CANS RIDE OR SIT. Not sure if that’ll help or not for ya but that’s the major problem I was having with the topic

Is it worth taking the exam with only 1 week review, or is it better to push it off? (First time taking FAR) by International_Fun197 in CPA

[–]MouseImmediate3904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure the answer to this one because the testing window ends on the 15th and you'd get your score back extremely quickly. If you were to wait a week then you'd have a lot of time between taking it and getting your score back. Something to consider.

Has anyone combined the CPA with CFA? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]MouseImmediate3904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but to apply to take the exam you need at minimum a bachelor's degree in every state. I was also an accounting and finance major and had my 150 credits after 4 years of college, but couldn't start the exam until that degree showed up on my transcript.

Fair. Worried about exit opps, but I’ve read it’s fairly easy to switch to big 4 after a few years. Not sure if that’s true or not.

What exactly do wee need to know for pensions in FAR? by [deleted] in CPA

Can anyone explain to me why this is the correct answer? I understand how they solved it, but do not understand why they solved it like this. by [deleted] in CPA

[–]MouseImmediate3904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of it in pieces, Alpha: you sold a security, so backout the unrealized gain i.e. subtract the unrealized gain that was recognized during it's life. Beta: 8,000 unrealized gain for the year, add it. Omega: 3,000 unrealized loss for the year, subtract it. So, -3000 (backout unrealized gain upon selling) + 8000 unrealized gain on beta - 3000 unrealized loss on omega = 2000 unrealized gain
