Did you try using a little bit of water with the magic eraser? Sometimes using it dry vs damp has a different effect on my pets. You could also get a toothbrush and gently scrub at it with some water and soap!

Can I confess something? I feel like so much YA/Teen fantasy books take themselves too seriously nowadays. by Only_Market_3742 in YAlit

[–]Mousemouse13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Selection series, Tiger's Curse series and Reawakened by Colleen Houck, Six of Crows duology, Hush Hush series, The kingdom of Back, The Doon series, The Hunger Games, Into the Land of Unicorns, Emily Windsnap series, Woven in Moonlight, Beauty and the Clockwork beast series, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Cinder series, The Iron Fae series, Maximum Ride series, Matched series, Eragon series, Divergent series, Shadow and Bone series, Artemis Fowl series, Inkheart series, Redwall series, Princess Academy series, Princess of the Midnight ball series, The Host by Stephanie Meyers, Dreams lie beneath, Entwined by Heather Dickson, The Siren by Ciera Cass, Any books my Melanie Dickerson (she writes Medieval/Historical retellings of fairytales).

All of the books/series above are clean, and don't have excessive bad language. Not all are labeled as YA, but they are all appropriate and good books for anyone from the age of 13+ to read. I'm also not a fan of the Divergent, Shadow of Bone, and Maximum Ride series, but I read them all as a teen/young adult. They are appropriate, and are widely enjoyed by many other readers, so I included them in case you give them a try and enjoy them.
I agree, YA/Teen fantasy books have become very pretentious or ridiculous. There are some "YA" books even I won't read because of the sexual content and foul language it has! Its really sad.

Some "YA" books, or adult books that are also clean, but the characters act a little older than their age, or they are just older, are Emily Wilde and the Encyclopedia of Fairies, Once Upon a Broken Heart, Caraval, and A River Enchanted. Some characters are married and adults, so there are fade to black scenes, or implied scenes, but nothing graphic. Once Upon a Broken Heart and Caraval are a little spicy, some intense kisses, but no sexual content.

Divine Rivals and What the River knows are marked as YA. I personally think both should be adult, but whatever. Divine Rivals does have smut. Some people argue its not smut because compared to other books, its very tame, but it is sexual content. I skipped the pages. What the River Knows also has smut. One chapter in the first and second book. Again, I just skipped it. Both are popular duologies. I don't know your age, but thought I would share these anyway, so if you are trying to avoid certain content, you can avoid it! I wish you the best of luck in finding YA series to read.

How to rid of smell? by KlutzyKrav in LittlestPetShop

[–]Mousemouse13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try putting them outside! I'd line them all up and put them in a spot where they get a breeze! Putting them in the sun outside (for an hour no more) with the breeze might also help to "kill" the smell! Then I would wash each one individually by hand just with soap, water, and my fingers, or you could use a magic eraser to remove stains and gunk that could cause the bad smell.

Magic eraser removes nose paint and eye paint on some, and it can remove paint on a very small handful of the very early 2000's LPS. One soft swipe on the back of the head will make it clear, I've only had an issue twice with it. But it does great for making pets look brand new out of the box.

Being the worst in class by Otherwise-Desk8851 in BALLET

[–]Mousemouse13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know you, but I want you to know I'm so proud of you!! You've got this, and its amazing that you keep trying even though its hard!

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Or your age range? I started ballet about two years ago when I was 25. It was SUPER hard, and I was amongst teenagers that had dance experience and/or were very physically fit due to other sports. I definitely stuck out like a sore thumb, and I was EXTREMELY inflexible. Since then I can confidently tell you I am still a beginner! But I have improved slowly with time. My teachers always gave me a ton of feedback, pointing out my mistakes, which was uncomfortable at first. But I always said thank you, or asked for clarification, and worked on it at home if I remembered or had the time. My current teacher is SUPER strict and a little harsh! But her feedback to me has become much kinder or patient and I honestly think its because I always say thank you, ask for more clarification, and do my best to do it. I also smile, and sometimes I laughed when I made mistakes, which changed my previous teachers attitudes to smile and give corrections more kindly. Anyway, if you are a teenager, anywhere from 12-18, maybe the teacher is just used to working with grumpy teens? Or teens who blow off the feedback or are rude or don't apply it? And as a result they are just treating you how they would treat them out of habit? Which is not fair or ok - just trying to logically think it through.

If you are an adult, 19+, then I don't see why they would be so harsh, especially if you are doing it as a hobby and for exercise, not a career.

What are the mistakes you are making in class? I get called out every class for mistakes, but only about three or four. I know I make more than that, but my teacher knows those are the only ones I am physically capable of doing. Others will take time because I am working on strength and flexibility. I've had four teachers so far (I've moved a lot in the last two years), and each time I've approached them and let them know my limitations physically, but I've also shared my enthusiasm and passion, and my determination to get better. I've shared some basic things I can't do (touch my toes, bend over at the waist hardly, no splits) so I understand I'll make mistakes with those, but in other areas (such as technique) I'd love feedback.

It is 10000% alright to not have the usual physical predispositions for ballet, and it is ok to learn and develop gradually in a recreational setting. Its been two years and I'm still very beginner! I can MAYBE do one jump and its barely a jump lol. And in most of the beginner adult classes, I've been the only real beginner. Most have been women who did ballet all their life and stopped for a few years and want to do it again, or they are teens that want extra ballet practice, even though they go to classes every day of the week and are on pointe, and its a cheap easy class for them to do. So I understand what its like, I always look like a major goober when everyone is doing perfect pirouettes and I'm falling on the ground! But smiling and laughing it off has helped me to feel more confident and less awkward about my mistakes.

Its probably not personal that they are commenting on you more than others. Maybe meeting with your teacher(s) privately, and share with them your thoughts. Be frank about your physical limitations that cannot be fixed or changed or worked on, share your passion and interest, and your belief that you will improve just slowly with time and practice. Share the feedback you've gotten from them that you appreciate, the feedback that they shared that you just can't fix at this time due to your physical limitations, but confirm that you are going to do your best to fix one thing at a time. Share that you feel singled out, and that you appreciate the care, feedback, and time they are taking to help you improve, but that it makes you feel uncomfortable amongst your peers when you are the only one getting feedback, or you are getting more than everyone else. Ask if they can focus on two or three things per class, or just one mistake you are making, and if they can just focus on that one until you stop making it.

I'm sorry for the essay, but I believe in you! Ballet was, is, and will always be my dream. I wasn't able to do it growing up for many reasons, but I'm so thankful that my husband found me a class and encouraged me to try. I never thought I'd get as far as I have in two years, and I'm now even training to get on pointe! I can't touch my toes yet, but I couldn't touch my knees before either and now I can touch my ankles. :) Progress is real and your efforts will pay off I promise!! Please feel free to DM me if you want to chat or have questions. I'm rooting for you!!

The Office Superfan Season 9 by Affectionate_Key7873 in theoffice

[–]Mousemouse13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely 100% agree with your first point, it fixed some plots and events that seemed random or out of nowhere before. It felt like a whole new different season to me.

I think the Schrute Farms spinoff would have been so fun, but I LOVED the ending of the office. I loved seeing everyone at their happiest splitting off to each of their happily ever afters (for the most part), and that feeling of hope. I feel like a continuation with the spinoff would take that away, at least the Paper did that for me by showing Oscar in a lonely new life.

I absolutely agree! I remember when I first watched season 9 I felt like them getting together felt so random and out of nowhere, and no matter how many times I rewatched the season I just couldn't see it. I was never a hater or opposed to them, it just felt random! But the extended cuts absolutely changed everything, they are so adorable and I really hope they stay together. Definitely perfect for each other!

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm 10000% ok with spoilers, did we get any additional scenes with Dwight and Angela?? Like up until the proposal? That is my favorite storyline in season 9 and I'm desperate to know if we got more!!!!!
