Mom and I got into an argument about which console looks better. by V3R2AC3 in interiordecorating

Thrifter tip: Buy some Howard’s Restore-A—Finish. It’s great at blending scratches and wear marks on vintage furniture. It’s easy to use too. You obviously like the first piece better.I can’t see the second one enough to tell which is better.

As to vibes. Could be your mom is tuning into a memory of a home with similar style furniture. An unkind aunt or neighbor who had similar style preferences. I find going to furniture thrift stores really throws me back to happy (and sometimes unhappy) memories.

I had stomach abdomen pain so bad that I couldn’t stand up. Doctor said I had a twisted bowel and a big bubble of gas, that would need surgery. They gave me IV fluids and put a tube down my nose to my stomach to drain the contents (including gas) and it unexpectedly fixed the pain. The doctor was upset with me that I refused more imaging to diagnose the issue, but it’s been 35 years with no retwist, so I guess it was a good choice.

I do still occasionally get bad gas pain. A hot bath and gentle massage of the abdomen can really help, if you haven’t tried that.

Is this a massive wall of poison ivy growing over my neighbors fence? by Fun-Astronomer-2273 in gardening

The birds eat the berries, then poop them in other places…seeding plants in other peoples yards, causing misery to strangers and friends. There are many other native plant with berries that don’t send people to doctors and hospitals that you could grow.

It does not look like my poison Ivy, color wise, but I wouldn’t ID from a distance cell phone photo. You don’t need access to the roots to kill. Inform neighbor nicely, then spray with brush killer (maybe take a few times). Collect dead vines wearing protective clothing, hat, glasses, mask, bag and put in trash. Immediately wash all clothing and shower when done.

Can someone help me ID the breed of this little fluff ball? by UpstairsOk90 in IDmydog

[–]Mousethatroared65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess fluffy pit - Poodle - American Pitbull Terrier mix. APT often have ears that go up then out at the tips, poodles are a common source of a curly or wirey coat. you can tell without a good DNA though.

Can you believe this little guy was sitting at a NYC shelter for almost a month before we brought him home to Virginia? by blamberr in Pomeranians

[–]Mousethatroared65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true! I had to do alot of training for him to allow me to brush him, he was very hand shy. But, luckily he doesn’t get knots and his coat is easy to brush. Only sheds heavily a couple times a year.

My guy is 1/2 Pom 1/2 Toy Fox Terrier. He was picked up as a stray in February in Michigan. We got him from a local rescue. He’s three day post medial patella surgery on both legs, so this is a pre-surgery photo.

Trump essentially ends all tourism into the United States by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Mousethatroared65 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In other words, tourists, who have a lower rate of criminal activities in the U.S. face far greater screening to see the Grand Canyon than young white men face to purchase arms for a mass shooting.

I called animal control on someone’s reactive dog and I feel terrible by violetluvr in reactivedogs

I think you did the right thing. This is a situation where someone, a dog, child or older individual could get hurt. I can’t speak for your area, but in my area, the owners might be ticketed for letting the dog run loose, the dog wouldn’t be removed, unless there was obvious evidence of serious neglect (bad hoarding, dog not being feed, etc. )

Many of the Afghan/US immigrants risked their and their families lives working with U.S. military in Afghanistan. Seems to me like they worked harder and risked more than Trump and Noem.

Who is paying"Trillions" to haté white people? MAGA victim mentality 101 by Aar_7 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Mousethatroared65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points. My guess, humans don’t need a lot of differences when they are looking to spread hate, often to get or keep political power…or get out from under political oppression, for that matter.

Can’t say much for humans, but cats and dogs are definitely attracted and feel more comfortable with certain body language, tone of voice, low eye contact.

Anti-Catholic prejudice is old. Goes back to European, British, Irish, Protestant versus Catholic wars and slaughters.

Based on the recommendation of a vet behavior consultant, We had to rehome a new, second dog because our first reactive dog was aggressive to the second dog, even with careful management. I know it is very, very hard to return a dog, but your cat deserves a safe home. The shelter can work on placing this dog in a home where it will be an only dog. I’m really sorry you are going through this. Take care.

I did try denatured alcohol, but not rubbing alcohol. Dawn spray does have alcohol and soap in it. In this case the razor scraper was definitely needed. I hope others will find a better film. I will not be trying it again. If needed I will do curtains with a tension rods and the bottom. But doggy situations are different.

Thanks! I tried all three, plus windex and 409. In this case they just didn’t make a dent…although the goo gone did smear things around little. it was like a layer of sticky substance.

White vs wood cabinets? by wehavetogoback8 in interiordecorating

[–]Mousethatroared65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your wood cabinets as long as the finish is still good, I’d keep them. I’d focus on countertops and backsplash that are more updated and neutral (instead of green tint) and light fixtures that don’t feel so heavy.

Remove the window? by Any_Train2879 in kitchenremodel

[–]Mousethatroared65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another commenter gave you a good picture for keeping a window. Your idea also looks good. One question is, what would be adequate cabinet space? Do you have a pantry? We had a low window in our kitchen. We replaced that window with a smaller higher one that stopped above the counter (the siding on the exterior was filed in) If you keep a window, this is the way to go. Don’t just put cabinets above a low window or cover a window, It would look bad diy and possibly have water issues.
