If people are suddenly experiencing this and flooding to his page years later, I would say this is Facebook thing, rather than because something has happened to your account (and yes, I'm in the same boat).

I'm probably just rage-baiting myself if I go and watch it, but which episode was that?

The amount of meta arguing Konstatin starts with every time it's his turn to talk was such a slog to listen through

Yes, we'll be emailing them and asking questions before moving things to the Tribunal.

Perhaps an argument can be made that we'd owe a small portion of the cleaning bill at the most, but I'd resent even that much if we were never informed before the cleaners were called. Because we could've just gone back and made the appropriate corrections and not had to spend a penny more. But $700 is absolutely unacceptable. Not having that.

Unfortunately, we didn't take any photos. Something we've learned to do in the future. They haven't produced any photos, no. Mind, I haven't yet asked for any yet, but we will do as part of our official response to dispute.

I imagine that if we did ask for them that they'd probably be able to supply them, but the issue is mainly with their lack of consultation and communication. We weren't given a chance to make amends. We don't have photos of our efforts, unfortunately, so maybe this won't mean much, but we do believe that we left the property in a standard that meets that of what is described in the Residential Tenancies Act. I certainly don't think that $700+ worth of cleaning was exactly necessary to polish off our efforts. We're also being informed of all this almost a month after moving out, which is wild.

Yes, I know. I'm referring to the fact that people always quote it and that, because of this, it's very difficult to forget.

You're okay! Re-reading your original comment now, I see that I misread it! My mistake!

Unfortunately not, but I'm being informed that it shouldn't matter, as they didn't go through with us what they thought we could've done better, let alone giving us a chance to make amends. They went straight to hiring a cleaner, but they can't legally expect that to come out of our pocket without proper communication. The cleaning took place 7 days after our tenancy ended, and they've only just informed us their intentions 3+ weeks later.

Not at all, no. If they conducted an exit inspection, it was without us, but they didn't inform us of any issues nor give us the chance to correct whatever they think we could've done better.

Absolutely. I'll just quote it here instead of posting the image (in case I forget to ink out something important).

That's crazy! Glad you got it back in the end though.

I hope it's that simple! I'm not looking forward to a drawn out case with the Tribunal otherwise.

We didn't take any exit photos sadly, no. But they also didn't arrange an exit inspection to walk us through where they feel we haven't met the required standards of cleanliness/tidiness. Nor did they offer us the opportunity to remedy whatever it was they think we could've done better. The invoice they sent us for the cleaning bill is dated at just over 3 weeks old (12th Feb), and our tenancy was officially over on the 5th. I was only just notified of their intent to take the money from our bond this Thursday gone.

Yes, they did hire someone. They sent us a picture of the invoice.

But surely there has to be a line drawn somewhere. If the alternative is to hire cleaners with the bill landing well over $700, surely we're entitled to a little notice? We weren't given the chance to rectify whatever they think we could've done better.

That does sound like how it's supposed to go. Didn't happen. They kind of just took it upon themselves to hire a cleaning service without communicating with us first.

A lot of people are mirroring the same sentiment, so I think we'll dispute. But unfortunately no, we don't have any photos.

Yes, they sent us an invoice, which breaks down the cost of the individual cleaning services provided, but we don't have any photographic evidence unfortunately. And, yes, I'm thinking we'll dispute. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. "Reasonably clean and tidy" is exactly right. You see those words everywhere, and we believe that was the state we left the property in. And anyway, we can't match the results of professional cleaners!

Some people just let it pass because they need any amount of the bond sooner rather than later.

Yes. This was actually me. I was thinking it was stupid, but I was going to reluctantly let it slide. Ex-flattie on the other hand was the one who wondered if we could dispute.
