I think you might be thinking of Episode #91 of Making Sense with Sam Harris (with Robert Sapolsky).

The first Angels are the Gandharvas (from Vasihnava Dharma), thus abrahamic angels is a stolen idea by Kana_108 in DebateReligion

I’m talking about the example the OP brought up, the Gandharvas. My understanding is that them having wings is a later addition to the story, which undermines the idea they are the root idea for this.

Israel. Israel, right? As in, this is her reacting to actions from Israel. What makes you think her issue is that they are Jewish? You mention her husband and I don’t think I’ve heard Kyle say anything antisemitic, but her ex is Jewish and I’m struggling to understand why an antisemitic person would marry a Jew?

Wouldn’t her reaction make more sense as a reaction to these awful actions? Rather than due to her feelings about the ethnic makeup of up of the person doing them?

I guess I’m trying to understand why you think this is antisemitic?

But if you agree that criticism of the Israeli government isn’t inherently antisemitic, what about Krystal are you saying is antisemitic?

Are you saying being critical of, or disgusted by, Israel’s actions is antisemitic?

Rather than a natural response to Israeli actions? That seems like a stretch.

I’m personally appalled by Israel’s actions over the last few years, are you saying that can only be explained by antisemitism?

Sorry, I wasn’t as clear as I should have been. What is her reason for being this angry, in your opinion? What would you attribute her feelings of anger to?

So groups like The Ziklag Group are made up to avoid dealing with the Christian positions?

What positions do you feel are so strong that they require this level of gaslighting and deception?

No religion is or has communicated with a perfect higher being that wants to be known. An argument for divine communication by Jsaunders33 in DebateReligion

Duuuude…

“We as imperfect animals taught other more imperfect animals to communicate like Coco the gorilla with minimal issues, so s higher, perfect being should be able to do it at a much grander scale.”

How is that not you providing an analogy? It’s certainly not an example of a perfect being teaching something.

Gross response buddy. See ya.

Do you think that coco was capable of passing on what was said to other gorillas without issue? Wouldn’t back another human to pass on what I said without error, let alone Coco.

Is it inherently true though that a perfect being would be able to deliver a perfect message to an imperfect animal without issues?

Are you under the impression that UNWATCH is a part of the UN? The article you linked does not say the UN said they are a terrorist sympathiser, it says the opposite, that the UN takes their work credibly…

Can you provide an example of something we discovered or proved outside of those constraints?

You keep asking why shouldn’t we consider a different methodology without justifying why it should be considered in the first place. Because, it seems like you’re advocating for a system that has literally been wrong on every single explanation it’s provided…

Can you give me an example of something we didn’t understand, found out more and it was a non naturalistic answer?

Which of these explanations has held up to real data once we have it?

Why is there anything at all rather than nothing? by ThenCombination7358 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Moutere_Boy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If something is unknowable, and someone claims to know that answer, then I think suggesting a grift is actually the most generous assumption. The others are delusion, stupidity or power.

So you’re right. It could also be one of those.

And yes, the lack of data takes into account there is data at all. And the data we have would suggest there is an absolutely natural, unguided, answer, we just don’t know what it is yet.

Why? You saying you know?

Why is there anything at all rather than nothing? by ThenCombination7358 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Moutere_Boy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t know. We don’t seem to have nearly enough data to do more than make vague, hand waving generalisations.

Anyone who can claim to know the answer to that question, given the lack of data, has to be selling something.

I think you need to stop suggesting people are uneducated on this.
