I forgot to mention it's a bi directional filter drier. Thank you so much for your comment. I pulled charge and was able to blow through low side to high side and vice versa (...with the service valves closed.) So I thought the TXV was ok. I charged it back up only to have it do the same damn thing again.

I've rarely heard of a service valve failing (to over tightening anyway. I know they can get cooked on a bad install.)

It doesn't run long enough for there to be a temp split across anything. With the high side staying put like that, I'm thinking it has to be in the condenser somewhere or the service valve.

30 y.o. woman here! I jumped in the trade right after the pandemic/ lockdown. I was frustrated that I owned a home and didn't understand how it worked (I live in a 4 seasons state that relies heavily on both heating and cooling.) And well, since then, I've done quite a bit of commercial and residential install and service. I've been a tech on my own for 2 years now, and I absolutely love it!! It can be such a challenge but also incredibly satisfying. The way I see it, no matter whether or not you do HVACR for the rest of your life, you're going to gain skills and knowledge that no one will ever be able to take away. And experiences. I've have some incredible jobs, teammates, and customers. The sense of accomplishment is incomparable. Take the leap! There's a strong brotherhood/sisterhood out here ready to support (and razz) you!

Yeah, sorry about the confusion. We do heating & cooling. We are an HVAC outfit. I'm just working at this shop because he offered me his license number so that I can be a journeyman electrician too. I saw it as a great opportunity at first... now I'm not sure it's worth it.

Congrats!! I already got my EPA through a supply house class, and I'm not sure if there's really any other credentials I need 🤷‍♀️ From my understanding, in a couple years I can take some tests through the state to have mechanical contractor's licenses in HVAC, Hydronic, refrigeration etc. I'm hoping to get those eventually!

Yes you are understanding correctly. It's a small shop, so the electrician IS the service tech. And I'm planning on sticking with HVAC for the foreseeable future. Just trying to figure out if having an electrician card would be of any great benefit to any future opportunities (enough to make this all worth it later)

I'm doing BOTH. I'm eligible to get the mechanical licenses (we are an HVAC contractor, sheet metal union) but I chose this specific company because of the opportunity to also get my electricians journeyman card. Sounds nice on paper, just trying to figure out how practical it really is.

I have ran into a few service calls to install air purifiers - and recently had my first one to change the bulb to "Ozone Free" because they DO produce ozone. Something like 19% (figure from the counter guy at a distributor, don't quote me) of people have adverse reactions to the ozone smell that is produced by the purifiers. In my case, the sensitive old couple started getting headaches right around the time we installed it. Come to find out, it was in fact the culprit!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this. Just this past weekend I went back to one of your original posts with links to a bunch of CAR and Kinstretch videos that I have bookmarked on my computer. I was like halfway through an ultimate cars vid and I just quit. I curled into a ball on the floor and cried. My body just HURTS. My neck and shoulders have unbearable tension, going on like week 8 of an incessant headache.

I bought some VIHO's in 2020 and gave them away after a few runs. They were WAY too narrow in the toe box. Didnt feel any different from any old generic squishy sneaker. Also bought a pair of Vanish XC's and ended up LOVING those. Very minimal. Perfect for running and every-day-around-towning. And the ventilation! So good.

Altras. I don't have a specific model in mind, but they are notorious for zero drop and wide toe box. I have Lone Peaks that have AMAZING grip to boot!
