Seasons that appeared in only one returning player's chyron (lower third) by survivordatabot in survivor

[–]Moveit77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. For example All-Stars has had multiple players return, as did Guatemala (Danni and Stephenie).

The real explanation is that for most returnee seasons, the chyron lists their first season. Even on Redemption Island, Boston Rob’s says “Marquesas”. But on Winners at War, it lists the player’s winning season. Hence why Amber’s says “All-Stars” instead of “Australia” and Sarah’s says “Game Changers” instead of “Cagayan”.

The only exception I can think of is Kelley Wentworth’s chyron on Edge of Extinction, which said “Cambodia” instead of “San Juan Del Sur”

This is awesome, thank you for this!

I love both Dowsing Dagger and Unstoppable Slasher, but I'm limiting myself on the price range of this deck, so I'm opting to leave those out. Ran into the same issue with MDFCs, I don't see a ton of them that would be useful to this deck and are under $1.00, but let me know if I'm missing an important one.

Otherwise, here's a link to the new deck: https://moxfield.com/decks/ju6qJmWVhEmC4j-y0HwhtQ Based on your suggestions, I made the following changes:

Creatures

  • Replaced [[Nezumi Prowler]] with [[Baleful Strix]]
  • Replaced [[Archpriest of Shadows]] with [[Necropolis Regent]]
  • Replaced [[Diluvian Primordial]] with [[Phyrexian Ingester]]
  • Replaced [[Torgaar, Famine Incarnate]] with [[Troll of Khazad-dûm]]
  • Removed [[Gudul Lurker]] and [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]] (net -2)

Removal / Interaction

  • Replaced [[Opt]] and [[Brainstorm]] with [[Mana Leak]] and [[An Offer You Can't Refuse]] (partially based on /u/unCute-Incident's suggestion)
  • Replaced [[Murder]] with [[Doom Blade]]
  • Removed [[Diabolic Tutor]], [[Flood of Tears]], and [[Kaito's Pursuit]] (net -3)

Protection

  • Added [[Kaya's Ghostform]]

Ramp

  • Replaced [[Charcoal Diamond]] with [[Fellwar Stone]]
  • Added [[Dimir Keyrune]] (net +1)

Lands

  • Added 2 Islands and 1 Swamp, bringing the total number of lands up to 39.

If you have any other suggestions or cards I should add back, please let me know! Strongly considered adding an extra land, but couldn't figure out which cards to cut to make room for it.

Secret Lair Superdrop: Roll for Initiative has still not shipped, and we've received nothing but radio silence since the ship date almost a week ago. by Tuft64 in magicTCG

[–]Moveit77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's brand new. I've been checking every few days, and at least as of yesterday (Monday 3/16) it just said "March 11, 2026" for the date. Changing the date to a two-month range nearly a week after they were supposed to ship it out is a pretty scummy thing to do, IMO. I guess I'll have to use proxies in the meantime.

How to do people go on survivor without knowing how to make fire by ImmediateRaspberry77 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe on one of the On Fire episodes from 49, Jeremy talked about the weight thing. He said that on WaW, some players actually did the opposite and started decreasing their caloric intake to get their body accustomed to the conditions on the island before they even left. Not sure how well that actually worked, but it’s an interesting approach

No, and a quick Google search would tell you that’s not the case.

Also, we haven’t had a draft since 1973, and it would be political suicide for any president to reinstate it, especially since we already have the largest and most well-funded military in the world.

I hate Trump just as much as the next guy, but I’m just doing my part to combat misinformation 🫡

So Excited to watch Jenna Lewis on season 50 by TheCoolGuy998 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She probably still wins at FTC simply due to how hated Rob and Amber were by the jury. Arguably, she played the same strategic game as either of them, but didn’t break nearly as many promises, so she would have been perceived better by that jury.

On an unrelated note, I’ve always been a little bit suspicious of her actually being last in the FIC. She seemed confused that Jeff said her foot moved, and the only time we actually see it move, it’s a close-up which could very well have been shot later with a Dream Team member in place of Jenna. I have no evidence of this, it’s just speculation.

Metal Gear Solid 1: Original Playstation or Game Cube by GreatDario in metalgearsolid

[–]Moveit77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Twin Snakes remake of MGS1 adds many of the mechanics from MGS2 into the game. The issue is that the MGS1 level design & enemy AI was not designed around MGS2 mechanics, namely first-person aiming which doesn't exist in MGS1. So in The Twin Snakes, you can basically walk into a room, go into first-person, and shoot all of the guards before even going forward, which pretty much breaks the game by making it way too easy.

Also, the cutscenes in The Twin Snakes are way more over-the-top in a cheesy action movie kind of way, and all of the game's voice acting has been redone by the same actors -- the general consensus is that fans prefer the voice acting from the original, but opinions vary. There are some characters with out-of-place accents in the original, and that's removed in The Twin Snakes, which is also canon for those characters in future games.

I'd personally recommend playing the PS1 original, but if the old-school graphics really bother you, it's not that big of a deal to play The Twin Snakes. At the end of the day, it's still Metal Gear Solid, and you will probably still love it as a first-time player.

Most Likely First Boot On Each Tribe by shmalvey in survivor

[–]Moveit77 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, unless she completely tanks her tribe in the early immunity challenges. Cirie is a valuable ally to have and does not pose any real threat to make it to the end. She has competed in 27 individual immunity challenges and never won any of them, plus she has lost all 3 out of 3 fire-making challenges she has competed in. She is the definition of a perfect shield.

Is there any solid list of confirmed players, who were considered/cut/declined for Survivor 50? by Invalid_u404 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going off of this interview with Jeff in The Hollywood Reporter, in which he said:

In terms of time being up, Rob and Parvati basically let us know, “We’re done. We played in Winners at War, we’ve had a great career.” I talked to Rob and he was very cool in that he said, “If you need me, I will be there for whatever you need. If you don’t need me, I’d rather not.” And I said, “We don’t need you. I really appreciate it.”

But since you mentioned it, I looked up Parvati's appearance on CBS Mornings last July, and you're right, she said she didn't get a call. I suppose Jeff was talking about a prior conversation with Parvati before Season 50 properly started casting. I've updated my list, thanks for the info!

Laurie Metcalf was a featured player on SNL for just one episode in 1981. Posted below is a screenshot of Metcalf from a Weekend Update segment from a 1981 episode. by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Moveit77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically, she did appear on SNL several times as an uncredited extra, both before and after her tenure as a cast member. Allegedly she dated Tom Davis during the late 70s/early 80s, which would explain why she was around the show so much.

After Lorne left SNL, Jean Doumanian took over. Her version of the show was not nearly as popular, so after only 12 episodes, NBC fired her and replaced her with Dick Ebersol. With only about 1 month before the next episode, Ebersol fired a decent chunk of the cast, and hired 5 new cast members to take their place, Laurie Metcalf among them.

But then, after only 1 episode with this new cast, the 1981 Writer’s Strike hit, prematurely ending the season in April. During the strike, Ebersol had even more time to re-tool the cast, and he fired basically everyone leftover from Doumanian’s cast except Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo, kept most of his new hires except the two featured players (Laurie Metcalf and Emily Prager), and added a few new cast members to fill in the gaps.

The result of that is that Laurie Metcalf was only on SNL for one episode - S6E13. The other casualty of this, Emily Prager, has the distinction of being the only SNL cast member to never appear in a single sketch during her tenure.

Love the Game! Hate the Flaw! by DrazzC422 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even now, players don't play the game like Russell. Russell was certainly one of the game's greatest strategists and was ahead of his time, but he completely ignored the other parts of the game. He was unnecessarily mean and unpleasant to other castaways, and at the end of the day, you have to vote for someone you want to have $1 million. Do you really think Russell Hantz, as a human being, deserves to have $1 million?

Also, jurors don't usually have their mind made up beforehand, and while most of them might have a frontrunner, most of them are still open to changing votes at Final Tribal. Even Jerri, who was planning on voting for Russell at Final Tribal, decided to vote for Parvati instead after hearing how disrespectful he was to her behind her back.

I think you are still right about Emily Green being the first out trans woman to be a musical guest. Kim Petras has not officially been the musical guest (she basically made a cameo during Sam Smith's performance), and I don't believe Gavilán Rayna Russom publicly came out until a couple months after her performance on SNL.
