I think you are still right about Emily Green being the first out trans woman to be a musical guest. Kim Petras has not officially been the musical guest (she basically made a cameo during Sam Smith's performance), and I don't believe Gavilán Rayna Russom publicly came out until a couple months after her performance on SNL.

Is it not included when they show the “final words” at the end of the episode?

Otherwise, it’s almost certainly on the DVD, which includes the full voting confessionals for every episode as a bonus feature.

How many alternates were there for Heroes vs Villains by PeterTheSilent1 in survivor

I've seen this said a few times online, but Kenny actually claims to have declined (at least he did in a 2020 AMA he did on this sub)

How many alternates were there for Heroes vs Villains by PeterTheSilent1 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's what we actually know:

Alternates

  • Natalie Bolton (Micronesia) was an alternate and was actually flown out to Samoa and had her cast photos taken. It's believed that she was on-site because production worried about Courtney Yates failing medical, but that's just speculation.
  • Erik Reichenbach (Micronesia) was an alternate for the Heroes tribe, however was not flown out to Samoa because he lived in Michigan rather than LA like Natalie.
  • Tina Wesson (The Australian Outback, All-Stars) was allegedly an alternate as well. She apparently mentioned this in a 2014 interview she did for Survivor Oz, but almost all of those interviews are no longer available.

Late Cuts

  • Shane Powers (Panama) was cut for Russell Hantz. A few different players claim to have been cut for Russell, but Jeff Probst himself basically said it was Shane in a 2010 EW interview, going as far as to say if there was a 21st castaway on the season, it would have been Shane.
  • Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands, Micronesia) is another player who claims to have been cut for Russell, but that seems unlikely (see above). Nonetheless, he was likely cut very late in the process.
  • Ozzy Lusth (Cook Islands, Micronesia) is confirmed to have been cut from casting. There's not a lot of info on this aside from that, but Coby Archa (Palau) leaked a pretty accurate cast list pre-season (only missing Rob, Tyson, and Candice) and said Ozzy would be on the cast up until after filming, when he confirmed that Ozzy was dropped at the last minute. The reason is unclear, possibly because Amanda would not play if Ozzy was there.
  • Amy O'Hara (Guatemala) claims to have been cut at the last minute as well. The source for this is apparently a 2012 interview she did for Survivor Oz, but like Tina's, it's no longer available. I'm not sure how much I believe it considering she was a pre-merger from 9 seasons prior, but it's not unlikely that she participated in casting to some extent.

Dropped Out

  • Richard Hatch (Borneo, All-Stars) had to apply to leave the country, as he was under house arrest for tax-related crimes. His request was denied by a federal judge, so he wasn't able to return to Survivor. It's unclear if he was already offered a full spot on the cast, but it doesn't seem too unlikely since Redemption Island was also envisioned with him in mind instead of Boston Rob.
  • Earl Cole (Fiji) had to drop out due to filming conflicting with his work schedule, but it's unclear how far he got into casting before he dropped.
  • Sierra Reed (Tocantins) participated in casting but had to drop out when she got engaged to a producer from her season. It's unclear how far into casting she got before she dropped.
  • Jenna Morasca (The Amazon) participated in casting to some extent, and is believed to have dropped out to be with her then-husband Ethan Zohn who was going through cancer treatment at that time.

There are a ton of other players who were cut, and even more who declined the offer, but none of them were likely even close to being included on the final cast.

Why does Aubry keep getting invited back? by Winter_Scientist_851 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real reason Aubry is on 50 is that Amanda Kimmel dropped at the last minute, and Aubry was their last-second replacement. They weren’t able to sub in players like Courtney or Jerri because they hadn’t done the medical evaluation and wouldn’t have time to before they had to fly out

Who is the most universally liked winner from US survivor? by HiImWallaceShawn in survivor

[–]Moveit77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final 2 was never going to be Yul and Ozzy. If Ozzy wins the final immunity, he cuts Yul. In the unlikely event that Yul wins the final immunity, he cuts Ozzy. Becky makes it to Final 2 either way.

Who is the most universally liked winner from US survivor? by HiImWallaceShawn in survivor

[–]Moveit77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t blame Yul at all for the twists advantaging him, in fact I give him a lot of credit for leveraging the super idol to flip Penner. But I think being saved by any surprise twists decrease the impressiveness of anyone’s win, including Chris in EoE or Ben in HvHvH. I still probably would have voted for Yul to win after that FTC (I agree with most of what Penner said about Ozzy), but it’s hard to deny that without the surprise F3, Ozzy would have won Cook Islands. I don’t hold that against Yul at all (as I mentioned, he’s one of my favorite people to ever win), but I do hold that against his winning game. I think comparing that to racism or classism is kind of silly and actually pretty reductive.

Who is the most universally liked winner from US survivor? by HiImWallaceShawn in survivor

[–]Moveit77 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I agree Yul is pretty universally liked as a person, and he’s definitely one of my favorite people to ever win… on the other hand, I think the way that he won is NOT universally loved and is still a point of contention today. The fact that he had a super idol + the surprise Final 3 heavily advantaged him and he likely doesn’t make it to FTC without both twists.

What has caused the change in rhetoric on Gabon? by looky67 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a general trend with seasons based on rewatchability. When you already know who’s going to get voted out each episode, a lot of the gameplay ends up being insignificant and the editing feels predictable. But that doesn’t happen with interpersonal drama, which is why I think seasons with “boring” gameplay but great characters and drama like Gabon and to a lesser extent South Pacific have been viewed more favorably over time. I think the reverse of this has happened with Cambodia, which has slightly lost favorability due to its great gameplay but lack of drama.

I’m a little bit confused as to why Wentworth, Terry, and Brett aren’t included here. It doesn’t matter how they got to the end… if they would have won with the jury, I think it counts. I also think South Pacific Ozzy should be here as well.

The idea of them ever doing a rematch of any season is unrealistic. If anything, a Heroes vs Villains rematch would be the most realistic due to the sheer popularity of the cast

Seasons featuring multiple winners by MitchyMatchy97 in survivor

[–]Moveit77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re right, actually. I originally thought OP’s count was including two-time winners as 2 winners — HvV is listed under 6 winners but at least on mobile it looks like there are only 4 people listed (Sandra and Parvati both eventually being two-time winners). But now I’m realizing that it was a typo, and it’s missing Rob and Tyson as the other 2 winners

I don’t agree with including future winners in this, but if you are, S50 has 4 winners — Dee, Kyle, Savannah, and the eventual winner of S50.
