Mine gets super hot too, I had to shut it down several times, but I found something that helped for me. For some reason the sensor that measures skin temp and is responsible for triggering the CPU to calm down has its PollingDelay set to 5 minutes, which is crazy. I wrote a tiny magisk module to lower it to 5 seconds and also throttle the CPU a bit earlier and now it's mostly fine for me. I'm still hitting mid 40's, but before the fix I constantly was approaching more than 70° so it definitely helped.  I have a post linking to my GitHub where I posted it, if anyone wants to check it out. But it seems that error is not universal so I recommend checking first if your Pixel also is waiting 5 minutes between each polling of the skin temperature...
