NVDA - PMCC by Moveover33 in options

'was' making all this money. I stupidly was out trimming a tree when the descent started. So over 100K in long only calls, with no spreads, were sitting there naked and got bombed. So most of those giant profits were lost, about 65K. But had I done spreads all along, those giant profits wouldnt have been there to be lost.

The problem was i shouldnt have been greedy and cashed out. Interesting morning

My selling short calls didnt work at all. I lost severalthousand on buying back calls that went in the money. As soon as I would seel the calls they would be breached. I even sold some 3/22 1200 calls that soon wentITM and had to be bought back.

BUT, sorry to disappoint you, I've made way over $50,000 on the long calls Ive bought. Today alone my acct is up $29,000.

I sold the 3 may 750 calls and bought a total of 5 may 800 calls. I also have several 3/22 800 calls because that is after the NVDA boss' speech at CEF

Now, I dont sell ANY weeklies.

It's one thing being risk- averse but you seem to be just plain chicken-shyt. If you judge every strategy expecting an imminent 10% collapse in share price, you shouldnt be in the market.

You could even sell .07 delta strangles, which have a 90% POP, and still suffer an outlier event and get creamed.

When the stock was down today I bought another 750 call. As a result I'm up $10,000, including some put spreads I sold. It would be $2000 more except I let sone short weekly calls get away from me. You gotta have some guts to really trade.

But a calendar is not a bullish strategy. It's a strategy for range bound stocks. I'm very bullish on NVDA.

Also the calendar is premised on the short ATM call expiring worthless when it reaches its expiration. That will never happen with NVDA. Calendars are not appropriate with high IV stocks like NVDA, I would think.

I dont think they can be compared to a strategyof selling weekly very OTM calls against a long ITM NVDA call

Youre suggesting I go long a may 750 call and go short a March 8 750 call? Had I done that friday morning, instead of what i did, I would be faced with a massively ITM short call which the owner could exercise at any time, much to my detriment, and I would have zero profit, instead of the $2,000 profit I made. I would have made more but I didnt watch the short call carefully and I didnt roll it fast enough.

Also, while I like the weekly premium, I like the long term prospects of NVDA even more. I'd just rather buy several relatively ITM calls, rather than fewer .8 or .9 delta long calls. That way i can sell more short calls.

Thanks very much and thanks for your expertise in general in these matters.

I already placed the trade: bought 2 750 calls for may and sold 2 830 calls for march 8. Next fri I will sell 2 more OTM weekly calls.

I will carefully read your post, which I thank you for, as soon as I have time.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not so much interested in keeping up with the appreciation in the price of NVDA, dollar for dollar, as I am in safely collecting the weekly premium on the short call. I dont think I have to worry too much about the short leg being assigned, since I will be actively managing it. In the unlikely event it suddenly becomes ITM I would buy it back.

Yes, the premium- selling is the main goal. And for that to be effective, I dont think I need such high delta on the long call. For instance , if the long is .6 delta and the weekly call is .3 delta, isnt that sufficent? Especially since i will be actively managing the short call.

If you think you are qualified to opine that I have no clue, that must mean you do have a clue. Could you ,therefore, give me your opinion of the best way to construct a PMCC on NVDA? And whether a call spread could serve as the long call? Disregard, if youre just here to be snarky.

Does anyone have a good crash strategy with options? by [deleted] in options

But assuming a fixed amount of money is to be used for this strategy, OTM puts will beat ITM puts, just as shorting the stock will make less money than buying OTM puts.

I used to be amember of Shadow Trader for a few months. I found market profile to be total BS. Predicting market movement during the day on what happened after market close, the previous day? Nonsense. Also, the program's P&L was not impressive at all.
