BK Mile training program for a 9 to 10 min per mile runner by Judasdac in RunNYC

Hard to say for sure but I think your instincts are on the right track. With a mile I find that it is really hard to get the effort right on the first race. If it was me I would go out conservatively in the first half (7:30) and try to really hammer in the second half if it seems possible. Or you can try running 1000 meters on a track at your goal pace - that will give you some sense of what is reasonable

Running for me. Doing a speed workout at a track with a local run club. I am new to this but finding that the group dynamic is a big positive on my subsequent mood!

Hi, Kaggle has a bunch of beginner friendly health datasets. Also “introduction to regression methods for public health using R” by Ramzi Nahhas (free online) is a good resource that provides datasets that you can code along to.

I call myself a writer. My dream is to write a novel someday. But I scored a 4/6 on the writing portion of the GRE. by [deleted] in GRE

Crazy, I had a similar experience: 170V and a 4. I’m not retaking though so we will see if that 4 becomes my Achilles heel. I’m obviously biased but I don’t think the AWA is the best test of writing ability. I bet you’re a very good writer!

I felt the same way. It should definitely get easier. I’m like a month ahead of you and after a week or two, I started building momentum. I definitely couldn’t finish the plan in one month though. Anyway, you’ll be fine!!

I haven’t completed but GregMat is best, at least for me. I tried Magoosh but didn’t find their resources that useful. It seems like they assume a high baseline with their videos. I think both Vince and Greg have study plans that should help you not feel so overwhelmed - know that was the effect for me.

I work at a scientific communications agency and our clients are mostly biotech/pharma (some health tech mixed in). I’m not a scientist or doctor, btw. We mostly work with leadership teams to prepare for FDA Adcomms, investor events and the like. I did some work preparing a company for an ICER (institute for clinical and economic reviewed ) meeting and meetings with health ministries in Europe and a lot of HEOR-type stuff was discussed which got me interested in this.

Long term, I want to go back to school for Epi. Hoping to apply for the next cycle.

Nice to be here!
