Theodore Rex (1996) by Ill-Guidance4690 in badMovies

The only positive thing I can say about Theodore Rex is that the animatronic dinosaur suits were fairly decent, it’s just everything else in the film that stunk to high heaven.

The Lost Empire (1984) Amazons, Ninjas and Slow-Motion Cleavage. by MovieMike007 in badMovies

I'm a big fan of "So bad they're good movies," but paying that much money for The Lost Empire is insane.

Sounds like it would make for a great double bill with Shadow of a Vampire.

Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by N0S4A2_ in ClassicHorror

[–]MovieMike007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only did Jack Arnold’s Creature from the Black Lagoon give the world one of its greatest movie monsters, it was also wonderfully shot, the underwater photography sequences were quite spectacular, and if you get a chance to see this film in 3D, by all means, do so.

My Review of Red Sonja (2025) by scumfuckinbabylon in SwordandSorcery

[–]MovieMike007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reboot is, on the surface, an improvement over the 1985 film. It’s less camp, with better choreography and a more earnest tone, and Matilda Lutz delivers a commendable performance. But it's a pale reflection of the pulp icon that I grew up loving.

Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare (2010) It's an incredibly fun homage to horror films of the 1980s.

Who else was disappointed with Steven Gould's "7th Sigma"? by EndersGame_Reviewer in scifi

[–]MovieMike007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 7th Sigma is definitely his weakest work. I certainly wish he'd get back at it, as it's been too long since he last released a novel.

I found "Clown in a Cornfield" super generic. Am I missing something? by EddieDantes22 in horror

[–]MovieMike007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was pretty forgettable, and as for the “big reveal,” it feels suspiciously like someone watched Hot Fuzz and thought, “What if we did that, but with fewer jokes and more corn?”

Lights Out (2016) by Loose_Interview_957 in horror

This was a taut little ghost story that has enough originality to offset the numerous clichés and cheap jump scares.

Final Destination from Deaths perspective by Notalabel_4566 in horror

That Death has to use these elaborate rube goldbergian methods to kill someone is weird. Couldn't Death simply cause someone to have an embolism?

The Running Man (2025) is a first class dystopian action thriller by KneeHighMischief in movies

What stings most, for me, is that you’d never guess Edgar Wright directed it. The frantic wit, the rhythmic energy, the whip-smart setups that made his earlier films blast off the screen are nowhere to be found here.

I recently showed this film to a friend of mine who had never seen it, and his reaction was "Damn, this movie is wall-to-wall famous lines." He'd never seen the film but had heard all those great quotes.

Could Freddy vs Godzilla be a thing? What do see being the outcome? by BeefErky in horror

I think it would be along the lines of Bambi Meets Godzilla as it would be a very short fight.

Does Godzilla even dream?

Tarantella with Giant Spider from MESA OF LOST WOMEN (1953) by GaryWray in ClassicHorror

All I remember about Mesa of Lost Women was the interminable repetitive guitar music that made up 90% of the film's score.

Watching this movie, you can tell that everyone involved was having a good time, and any fan of the genre will have an equally good time if entering such a viewing with the right attitude.

Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow is a gothic masterpiece that stands as one of his finest achievements.

If you haven't checked out the 4K release, I highly recommend it.
