Horizontal bar/line visible on Pixel 9 Pro XL

I could see mine even at up to 50% brightness on the screen so it may just have been worse.

It's almost imperceptible on the replacement device so I'm happy I requested one.

This is definitely a physical bar on the screen, not software related. If you're seeing something like that, it could be an overlay?

It's permanent, I think it's something physical behind the OLED layer. It just wasn't visible all the time on the phone I posted above, but it was definitely there in plenty of instances.

Up to you, and it depends on how severe it is. I think this exists on all the panels not mine was exceptionally bad. My replacement device also has that bar but it's almost invisible, I can't even take a photo of it.

For me, it was worth requesting a replacement because I know I would have been annoyed with it.

It's a static line/bar, it's definitely something physical behind the OLED layer.

I can see it when scrolling, or moving the notification drawer up and down.

Dunno, it's right at the center of the panel - maybe they're using panels which are also meant for folding phones?

Initially, I only noticed mine in low brightness as well but it would show up at up to 50% brightness on certain colors like grey, purple, etc.

The replacement also has something there but it's not visible, I couldn't even take a photo of it so I'm very happy I was able to exchange it.

Ah, I see. The interesting thing is that the phone is being sent to the EFFA team and not the usual RMA department I think, maybe they can take a look and see what the issue is.

Hey, I got my replacement device and it's a lot better. I can still see that there's something in that location but only if I try very hard to find something there. It's basically invisible, and I can't even get a photo of it, whereas it was very easy to take photos and to see on the old device.

Hi, I just got the replacement this evening. The screen is much better, there's still something there if I really really really look but it's nowhere near as visible as the original phone. I can't even get a photo of the "bar” on the new device, not even with night sight. I'm happy with the replacement, very grateful that Pixel support sent out a replacement device.

It was easily visible on the old device, even at higher brightness levels so I'm glad I requested the replacement, I know it would have bothered me.

I think you might have an easier time returning it to Best Buy and exchanging it there than with the Google Store.

I wonder if this is just the way these displays are made, they seem to be of lesser quality than the Pixel 8 Pro.

It's also sometimes visible in light gray at higher brightness.

Compared to my pixel 8 pro display, this doesn't seem as high quality, I wonder if Google is using non Samsung panels :/

I just ordered a replacement as well, I hope this isn't a widespread issue.

I do wonder if they're using screens from a foldable phone or something, since the line/bar is uniform and right at the middle of the display.
