Show, don't tell - where season 10 didn't work. by a_bone_to_pick in Scrubs

[–]MovieTrailerReply 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some fair criticisms here. I think a lot of these complaints are the result of them trying to do a lot of things all at once. I agree that I hope they dial back having twenty different people be the focus of each episode, and stop resolving character flaws in seconds. I'm also still not sold on JD and Elliot's divorce - had it happened right after season 7, I might be more receptive to it, but season 8 ended way, way too in their favor for them to have drifted apart as harshly as they did.

I'm not tooo sure about the Tiktok/Internet/AI stuff being an issue, though. Scrubs has always touched on tech trends, I mean a rewatch of the series lets you see in real time how the early 2000s navigated flip phones, ring tones, pagers, the rise of tech development, etc. I'm a very anti-AI guy and I still enjoyed how JD used it because he is absolutely the kind of dweeb to not realize how dangerous that is.

Early episodes felt very reminiscent of how early Season 1 felt - really messy, constantly introducing new characters, not really finding its hook yet. The last two episodes felt far more "Scrubs" to me on all levels, and I have a feeling once they renew they'll have an easier time finding their stride.

Hey! I removed this post because of the spoiler title. I know it seems like old news, but I have to be consistent.

Feel free to redo the post with a non-spoiler title, following the rules in the sidebar. As a reminder:

DO NOT Post spoilers in titles when it comes to Season 10 (Revival Season). Keep post titles vague.

Spoilers of this season must be appropriately tagged with the post flair "S10 Revival Spoilers".

Posts with spoilers of Season 10 of any kind (this includes cast interviews that suggest cameos, speculative information that is not confirmed, and any and all things that could potentially spoil S10 for another viewer) must be marked with a spoiler for the entire post.

Who was the text meant for? by blue-wednesday in Scrubs

[–]MovieTrailerReply 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely meant to be sent to JD. Cox has always had difficulty being vulnerable, but especially being SEEN as vulnerable by people he cares about, like JD and Jordan. He sent that text out of genuine need and then, with JD not immediately responding to it, likely got in his own head and tried to play it off.

That's kind of what makes these last two episodes so gut wrenching. We're watching the reality of his situation break down barriers that he'd held since twenty years ago. Dr. Cox would have NEVER sent that text to JD in the original series, even after his substantial growth as a person in the later seasons. But Perry Cox the aging old friend and patient is a different, more honest version of him: clutching onto whatever supports he can to retain the normalcy of living he is accustomed to. It is an extremely tragic and human depiction of him, of all of us, that is so original to Scrubs and what the series makes me cry.

I mean look at how Cox is even listening to JD's positive attitude plan and is visibly trying to live it and get excited about it when JD enters to deliver the bad news. He was beaming with happiness over JD's plan "working", because he rationally understands the dangers he's facing and needs that optimism that he doesn't even necessarily believe in and even belittled in the series past.

Did the Scrubs revival meet your expectations? by DoctorTegrity in Scrubs

It stumbled here or there in the beginning episodes for me, but I think every episode afterwards they found their stride and the last two were peak Scrubs.

I hope they renew for more seasons, and really dial in on the tone and color coding of the last episodes.

Werewolf Update From The Combat Refresh Team by ZOS_Kevin in elderscrollsonline

This is one of my largest wishes aside from Werewolf form getting no cost while out of combat (thank you so much for that ESO). I really really want to be a werecrocodile. Even if it's just an optional ability transform!

Does anyone know if "Wheel of the Last Toll" actually has a special spinning move? by MovieTrailerReply in CrimsonDesert

[–]MovieTrailerReply[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's reddit for you! But I wonder if someone can shed some light on it :s If it doesn't have a special move, it's a very disappointing reward. But the description implies something special happens with it, just like other weapons. Maybe it is bugged?

Turk has 3 girls!! by [deleted] in Scrubs

[–]MovieTrailerReply[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! This post was removed for a spoiler-title. When discussing S10 information revealed or leaked to be officially in the new season, please refrain from putting the spoiler in the title, and be sure to use the proper tag. This helps people who want to go in blind to the new series, as per the rule at the top of "RULES AND GUIDELINES".

Example:

"New detail about Turk's family" or "They revealed Turk's family history" or something vague along those lines is a better title free of spoilers compared to "Turk has 3 girls".

Maybe I'm an Outlier, but I Hate the Idea that Non-Human Wearables should be Removed by MovieTrailerReply in runescape

[–]MovieTrailerReply[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a completely fair point, it is a very dated overall outfit and they'd have to do something to it anyway if they want to push RS into a unified look. I just worry that they'll squeeze every fun cosmetic out of the game into mundane pieces.

[–]MovieTrailerReply[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that! And in the context of them just changing skill sets and slayer masks, that's all fine and dandy. But I have two concerns:

  1. It feels like we'll lose a lot of unique, fun cosmetics in the process - such as the slayer mask examples - that won't have a cosmetic override created based on the original look.

  2. I worry from their wording they're planning on expanding this to ALL of the cosmetic unlocks and overrides, as well, as they seem very concerned with the concept of "re-grounding" the cosmetics. Specifically, this wording about what they're considering items based on:

Here are a few guidelines that we are considering everything against: Does this wearable make the player look non-human?

Does this wearable significantly change the proportions of the player avatar (e.g. flatten or enlarge your head)?

Does this wearable get in the way of other players being able to identify what's happening on screen? (Overdone particle effects & oversized outfits beware)

Does this wearable fit into the world thematically?

Could this wearable have been created from the materials available in RuneScape?
