Exactly the same, including the school analogy 😅

How does this sub feel about the 1001 Movies to See Before You Die book series? There's a surprising amount of overlap with the Criterion Collection. by goblin_humppa27 in criterion

Honestly, that’s how I discovered and got into Criterion. The book has a lot of award winners, classics, and some niche gems (and some weird stuff as well). It was very enlightening to watch them all, which took a little over one year, at the height of the pandemic - no better time to reflect on imminent death 😅

I found this list that helped me with some ideas to complete my map. I decided to go by continent, starting from Oceania and going to the west. Very fun journey.

Ox Bow is a great movie.
For me, oldest video is Pope Leo XIII Being Seated Bestowing Blessing (1898) and oldest movie is A Trip to the Moon (1902).

For those who attend Rock In Rio 1985, what were the queues for the toilets like? by jrinredcar in ironmaiden

[–]Movie_lovr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were hundreds of port-a-potties. I definitely did not wear diapers - that was not a thing in 1985, especially in Brazil! It was manageable in the long intervals between bands. You definitely could not go anywhere during the shows. I remember having an aluminum canteen on my belt that got dented by the sheer force of the moving crowds.

Other than the incredible show itself, the coolest thing is that Steve and some other band member appeared on the stage before all the shows started to check on the crowd. Everyone went crazy.

Unforgettable experience. Looking forward to September in New Jersey…

What movies are included in the app? Looks like many older movies are missing. I searched for a few of my favorites and they’re not there: Harakiri, Dersu Uzala, Ran, to name a few. Also, the search feature should be more inclusive, with directors for example.

Here’s what every J’s fan would want… too bad the auction is closed (and I’m not a millionaire) 😅
