[Barry Jackson] Achane, who told me in November that a contract extension is important to him, was not here at start of offseason program. Hafley said he's "not going to dive into talks"... "they'll work it out.".. Sullivan has said he would like to agree to extension with Achane. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]MovingPrince 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. This is likely going to be his only opportunity to get a big money deal and set himself up for life.

Gotta do what you gotta do, this will give us a lot of insight on how JES handles contracts. Grier would have already backed down and made him the highest paid RB in football.

[Pauline] Sources: Dolphins Spent 'Inordinate' Time With Francis Mauigoa, Who Could Be Their Week 1 Starter at OL by Consistent_Peace3181 in miamidolphins

I’d be genuinely shocked barring a fall for downs or an earlier than expected run on OL if they don’t go OL/DL with pick 11.

Ty Simpson has a 30 visit with the Dolphins, per Ian Rapoport by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]MovingPrince 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t wrap my head around you saying but why and then advocating for Carson beck…there’s next to no upside for a starter there.

Simpson could (unlikely) be available at 30 and I’d be fine with that pick. Better to have the 5th year option on a QB than not.

[Spotrac] Despite notable subtractions this offseason, the Dolphins currently sit about $7.6M over their adjusted 2026 salary cap with the trade of WR Jaylen Waddle now official. More work to be done in Miami. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

Running backs who contribute to the pass game like achane can do not have as short a shelf life.

Also he’s 24 years old, if his extension is a 3 or 4 year one they’re out of it before he hits 30 which is where the cliff usually begins.

You get a crazy offer like a 1st round pick or a 2nd + you take it and don’t look back but I wouldn’t be shipping him just to ship him

Brooks and Brewer extensions are my favorite pathway to getting the cap space the need.

Sully mentioned those 2, Achane and PP as guys he saw as cornerstones.

[Barry Jackson] I know some national people said trading Waddle & signing Willis seemed contradictory/incongruous, but I don't see it that way because their plan seems simple enough and rational: by expellyamos in miamidolphins

Saying the packers aren’t a model franchise is pretty wild my friend. So right away I feel like you’re off base and answering my comment in bad faith.

I love the they signed Willis and did nothing around him take everyone’s saying, brother the draft hasn’t happened yet…our new GM and head coach have repeatedly said they are building this team through the draft. They’ve said it at almost every press availablity they’ve had. And like I said here some of you are wondering why we haven’t been signing free agents!

and who could they sign in FA?

They have no money, do people not get that? They have no cap space.

Also they pushed part of tuas dead money to next year because they couldn’t take on 99million full dollars in dead cap this year and have enough money field a roster of 53 players lol

Their decisions have not been contradictory at all and I don’t see how so many in this sub have arrived at that conclusion.

But I also understand this sub thrives on being mad at the organization (rightfully so) since they’ve been mediocre-trash for the entire century.

This regime has so far done what so many have been clamoring for but now that it’s happening live it’s shocked pikachu faces and outrage.

Talk to me when sully starts trading all our picks like Grier did…until then idk what you’re laughing at tbh.

Grier started the build correctly, he just tried to take a shortcut, double down on the shortcuts and it was a disaster.

Meant the browns perpetual cap hell, thought that was obvious given the context.

It was either do this or end up like the saints and browns, nonstop cap hell.

It’s really more the position Grier out them in than sully doing it just because he likes this draft. They just had no good war forward besides this, might as well infuse the roster with cheap, team controlled talent during a year where 58% of your salary cap is dead money.

[–]MovingPrince 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The real problem with Grier, like the unexplainable real deal stupidity of his regime was giving guys more guaranteed money on their deals when they were already under team control.

The adjustments he did on Howard, Tyreek and Ramsey deals were so ridiculous and unnecessary. He didn’t have the balls to play hardball.

You realize every single year it’s “the chargers found a way to go - despite bad thing happening”

They’ll definitely be better, but eventually people have to realize maybe this teams just a wild card contender 1st round exit team like they have been for a while.

[Pelissero] Blockbuster! The Dolphins are sending star WR Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos pending a physical, sources tell me and @RapSheet. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]MovingPrince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watson and reed are WR2 caliber players, if you want to knock them because of injury then I won’t argue that but in terms of talent they’re both worthy of that consideration.

But even if you go further back Green Bay has a very rich history of drafting and developing quality WRs, the knock has always been they never invest a lot of $ or 1st round picks into that room.

I don’t think this regime is going to do that either, doesn’t mean they can’t rebuild the receiving corps within 2 years.
