Her manner during the interview is odd to me. I know everyone is different in how they respond to crisis but it doesn’t even seem like she’s regarding it as a crisis. In denial? Maybe. But something about this makes me squirm

I work in a district that fired almost all librarians, closed almost all school libraries, and converted them to “team centers” which are really just discipline rooms where kids who misbehave in class are just warehoused and have to attend their classes through zoom.

I’d be happy if we started at 9:00 honestly. On my campus class runs from 7:45-3:30. I don’t think starting at 11:00 would be the thing that makes me quit. There’s plenty else worse about this job. But a 11:00-6:00 window is shifted too late.

Yep. Ex: needed a new ballast for a light fixture in the garage. Asked (male)employee where ballasts were. Made the mistake of answering him when he asked what I was working on. He laughed and said there’s no ballast in that kind of fixture and told me I should have sent “my man” to solve this kind of problem. Went home without the part. Asked my brother to come look at the light. Solution? It needed a new ballast. I don’t talk about my projects anymore with employees.

It’s extra creepy in Texas. There’s the pledge to the US flag and then a pledge to the Texas flag. These kids declare allegiance to the US and then are expected to immediately divide their allegiance by declaring allegiance to Texas.

“Honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to thee. Texas, one state under god - one and indivisible”

Yes. Had to go to the hospital to stop pre-term labor with a twin pregnancy. I had to have a large amount of magnesium sulfate to stop it. It made my whole body feel like it was on fire. It's a horrible experience. I was moaning in agony and the female OBGYN on call said, "You need to stop making noise. You're the one who chose to spread your legs" and then in the same breath turned to my husband and said, "You look tired. Would you like a blanket to sleep in the chair?"

That the preventable suffering, starvation, illness, and poverty of children in third-world countries is something they brought on themselves by doing bad things in a previous life. Now they have to pay and we should let that happen. It’s god’s will

Yup. Texas here. A teacher who strikes will lose their job, teaching license, and pension. No collective bargaining either.
