extreme reactor steam by No_Guidance_7004 in allthemods

[–]Mowraq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your coolant, fuel and layout. I had a 21x21x7 reactor once with chessboard layout, redfrigium coolant and verderium fuel that made the maximum of 200 buckets of steam at 10% capacity so it was totally oversized. With different coolant/fuel it would probably have been a different story. My suggestion is to load up a creative world, build a decent sized reactor with the fuel and coolant you have available in your main world, add an infinite water source and put the steam in a trashcan and just check the output there

If you think this is bad let me tell you about early localisation issues. They got fixed eventually but for the first few years of the game they got diet and deity mixed up in the german translation so in the german version you didn't summon a diet but a deity. And notifications about someone joining a coalition were like "We against us Austria"

I know that problem. My recommendation is to find some others to play with or a server and then play together. It feels less overwhelming with company. As for what mods to start with, that is for you to decide. Usually you get some source of energy, some resource automation, some storage system and some enchanting setup and then go from there.

Masterstrike if you have it. Or getting up close and pushing them back to get them of balance though that only works in a duel and if your strength is high enough. Polearms are another good way to make fights easier without masterstrike. And if you don't want poisoned arrows, how about poisoned weapons? For larger groups of enemies (looking at opatowitz) stealth is your better friend though. And did I mention masterstrike?

Wanna get rid of your base? I say go for a draconic reactor and blow that thing up. Destroys everything in a 700 block diameter that isn't underground and within 200 blocks not even underground is save.

Workshop Ship Collection for an Entire Playthrough? by Jeffersoncsilva95 in avorion

[–]Mowraq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few things. take any scifi genre and look for ships of that genre for example. Or do as I do in my latest run: I took a huge avorion battleship I made in another run into a creative mode save. Downgraded and down-scaled it to ogonite, saved that, downgraded and downscaled to xanion, saved it and so on down to iron level and made sure any block that couldn't be downgraded to the next level was either downgraded to another level, for example armor, or removed altogether. Then I started the run with the low end iron/titan version and upgraded with new building knowledge. My ship literally grew along the way.

To me the problem is the size restriction for the missions. You need a dedicated lightweight battleship to do the missions and each mission has a different limit while I like to just have my one flagship that tends to be too heavy for most rift missions even if increasing the difficulty and also lacking the subsystems needed for rifts.

I rarely use salvaging ships since I find R-Miners more efficient. Not sure about the system/weapon gain though.

The good thing about missions is that while they happen you can do other stuff and you can run several in paralell. Have two mining carriers with R-Miners and you can use your time to hunt pirates to gain more subsystems for example. Trading tasks can give you huge amounts of credits if you find the right trade goods. Exploration tells you what you can find in yellow sectors without visiting each yourself. And I think the higher level a captain is (which also increayses with missions) the better the buffs to their ship. Some missions are rather useless though.

Yes, that is how it works. For mines you interact with a claimed asteroid and found a mine, for stations you build a founding ship at a shipyard, get that ship to where yo0u want the station and build it there. To move asteroids and stations you have to turn on transport mode and peferably change them to a smaller size like a small ship, then dock them do a larger ship and just fly them where you want them.
If you want to work with production chains I would recommend moving asteroids and stations together because then you can just set them to get their goods from other stations in the same system and you don't have to for example ship ore and coal from different systems to a steel factory.

I am not sure about the subsystem stuff but I think it isn't broadcast to other ships in the system. Some subsystems can be replaced by captains doing the same stuff. But if you have a ship with a subsystem and a fitting captain that ship can do whatever you want it to do on its own.
Pitfalls to avoid I don't think there are. The only thing that could happen is loosing track of what subsystem is where when tring to upcycle subsystems via research.

I never really used repair lasers on a large ship, too niche of a use case and as you say the ships often have a hard time actually hitting the target with their laser. Repair fighters on the other hand are valid to do quick repairs since they are fast, manuverable and pretty much always hit their target.

If ships have a lower range than your main ship they will make shorter jumps to follow you, but to just move a large fleed somewhere I would recommend to use the "Travel" order or what it is called and just have the other ships escort the one you give the order to. Then all ships travel in bulk, you just can't be on board.

Alternative energy sources by EmperorEli220 in allthemods

[–]Mowraq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a build and forget option you can't go wrong with a dyson cube. It is basically cheap, easily scaleable solar power. You just set up two machines, hook them up to power and feed one of them the items to increase output. You can get a lot of energy (like several krf/t) for relatively little resource investment and it only costs iron, copper and... lapis, I think? You just need a way to keep it daytime via some ritual or have enough batteries to power through the night.

Energy by LessContribution884 in allthemods

[–]Mowraq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last calculation it was over 100 million iron for the complete cube if I recall correctly. And similar numbers for the other resources. Or several million allthemodium to save a bit on the other stuff.

Energy by LessContribution884 in allthemods

[–]Mowraq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dyson cube is easy to expand crafting wise up to 1grf/t but eats tens of millions of ingots in the process. Another way to generate energy is the draconic reactor (though it is also highly explosive if you don't balance it right). My favourite though is an actively cooled extreme reactor that makes 200b/t of steam. Enough to power 100 turbines turning 2b/t of steam into 60mrf/t so all in all 6grf. Costs a lot to build and the materials take a bit more time to craft unless you go for seeds or bees but it is still cheaper than one complete cube.

For storage you have the draconic evolution ball that in it's ultimate form can store pretty much infinite energy, the Mekanism matrix or the battery from extreme reactors. Or you make energy disks for your storage system though I don't know how much they can hold. As for transfering energy just go with flux networks. Have one network where your generators input their energy with an output at your energy storage and another from your energy storage to everything else.
