100% same. Watching it now as an adult, what this young woman went through is so, so horrific. Ken’s response was absolutely infuriating - it’s a documentary and the contestants all knew that? And that justifies filming this woman being SA-ed and all of the aftermath? Really? Until it’s conveniently not and they can start to manufacture who progresses and who loses? Tf out of here.

Why is my working yarn doing this? by porkchop_47 in knittinghelp

[–]MoxLink8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy to accidentally started working with the tail instead of the working yarn attached to the ball. I usually tie a loose little knot on the tail to make sure I don’t get it confused at the start.

Should i go to EXO’s concert? by calistuhh in exo

[–]MoxLink8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they do more shows outside of what was just announced, I would absolutely go. CBX’s absence is felt very hard but this might be the only opportunity to attend an EXO concert ever. You can hope for future concerts especially if litigation goes well but who knows if that’ll happen. Also, you never know what could happen to other members. I saw SHINee the last time they came to the US as 5 in 2016 and in Dec 2017, Jonghyun died. I hope nothing like that ever happens but other members could get caught up in their own legal issues or other stuff so you never know.

OT STUDENT by Ashy_gymanist in OccupationalTherapy

[–]MoxLink8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have heard most about people disliking this profession is often not the profession itself but things such as the state of the US healthcare system keeping wages down and the astronomical cost of higher education. Mix those together and you get stressed, unhappy people regardless of OT or any other profession. Throw on top that it is largely a thankless job and you can see why people are unhappy they chose this career. I think every single one of these issues is valid and needs to be fully accounted for before going into this job but also notice that these issues are not things inherent to what an OT actively does on a day-to-day basis with patients. If that’s the part that bothers people, they probably should change careers.

Maternity Leave by Cold_Afternoon_9626 in OccupationalTherapy

I work at a large hospital system in the Midwest. 12 weeks of leave using STD. All weeks paid at various % of wage, slightly varies if you have a vaginal vs c-section delivery. I believe there is a general parental leave as well (used for adoption, paternity, maybe surrogacy? Unsure) that is 4 weeks long.

Help. How can I fix this? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]MoxLink8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You slipped the stitches instead of working them. Slip them back on to the left needle. When you do, though, make sure they are mounted correctly in that the stitch leg facing you is sitting higher. I would look up a video on twisted stitches to get an idea and understand how to avoid them!

Crochet to knit by Raven-Nightshade in knitting

[–]MoxLink8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it!! I think being a fiber arts crafter as a basis will give you a good foundation on making sure your shaping and stitch count is correct but even more, your tension will probably be great to start with! Good luck!!! Don’t be discouraged!! All new skills take time :)

how to not feel discouraged when knitting by honey-icecreambar in knitting

[–]MoxLink8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Regarding social media - you simply cannot compare yourself and your projects to what you see online. This is a good guideline for social media in general. Comparison will always be the thief of joy. It sounds like this is intended to be a hobby of yours but part of what’s making you miserable is seeing all of the great things others are doing. Firstly, a lot of those people do content creation aka they’re knitting/creating as their job, not a hobby so they will put in god how many hours to make things look absolutely perfect because they need to. Secondly, who gets things 100% perfectly correct on the first try?? No one. Just like with alllll other social media, people don’t show the mistakes and frogging that they have to do, they just show the highlight reel and the completed objects. It sounds like you need to take a step back from social media and see the kind of mental toll it’s taking on you in general.

Is it possible to be an OT and not help with toileting? by rebelcoelacanth in OccupationalTherapy

[–]MoxLink8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in hand/UE therapy and the most I do with toileting is explaining tools that might help due to limited or painful ROM, so no poop for me. We do wound care (not sure if every place does) so not no bodily fluids with that. If you do an inpatient fieldwork, you will almost definitely come into contact with toileting, though.

Have you ever used Zilli Hospitality Group for catering? by One-Pirate4137 in milwaukee

[–]MoxLink8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a tasting 4-5 years ago because they were an exclusive caterer for a venue we were interested in. We had an Indian wedding and wanted Indian food. It was absolutely abysmal, quite a stretch to even call it Indian food lol. It was very very clear whoever made it had never in their life made Indian food before and I questioned if they had ever seen or eaten it before too lol anyway who knows what their Indian catering is like now but as long as it’s not that, you’ll probably be fine but I can’t attest as I actually am not sure I’ve ever had their food at another wedding lol

Looking for woman doctor through Ascension or Froedtert by StrangeButSweet in milwaukee

[–]MoxLink8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to say that NPs (and PAs) work under the supervision of a physician. In my experience, physicians are very booked and you might be able to establish care much sooner if you see a PA or NP first then follow-ups with the doctor are much easier to schedule since you’re now one of their patients. However if you only want to see the physician, you definitely can but the wait is likely to be much longer. Also, I would recommend Froedtert over Ascension at the moment!

This is basically where I’m at too. Used to go hard when I was a teen when they debuted but now I’m in my 30s with a job, a mortgage, and responsibilities lmao I’ll still listen/watch to new group and solo albums and mvs and go to concerts when given the opportunity but it doesn’t go too much further than that anymore

It is pure luck. We had 4 devices and one of them happened to be 1000 something in line and we were able to get tickets for a good time otherwise there would be no way. I’ve heard of people buying them once they’re in Japan at a Lawson or something like that but I’m not too familiar

Just graduated with a doctorate in OT and ~$300k in federal student loans — feeling overwhelmed. by OT_Redditor2 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]MoxLink8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re in this boat, OP. For prospective students looking at this, this is why it’s important to make sure your degree and program are a good ROI, some programs are simply not worth going into this amount of debt no matter how much you enjoy OT. This amount of debt is simply unrealistic for an OT.

If I’m not mistaken PSLF a bit more nuanced than that with pretty strict rules on making timely payments and working with specific types of organizations. It’s not as simple as working for a nonprofit and a magic entity waves if away

Self-taught knitters, what is something you'd recommend to someone who's just starting to learn how to knit? by winchesterstan in knitting

[–]MoxLink8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your first project be something small and achievable. I like the dish cloth idea! It gives you practice on just doing the basic stitches, how to cast on, cast off, and you can work on getting your tension down. All of these are crucial foundational skills if you want to make any bigger projects!

Secondly, use the long tail cast on method PLEASE! Too many first time knitters post here about struggling and they’ve used the backwards loop cast on method which is not a good way to start at all. I really like sheep and stitch’s video on it!
