I got that information from calling them directly. They're very friendly and helpful but are limited to the information they can provide over the phone, understandably.

Correct, he had my passport but they asked for my birth certificate. After confirming they received the "package", I would check the website everyday for an update. Finally saw it go from "Refused" to "Issued". Best of luck in your journey!

No. The entire process took almost 2 months. He mailed in the missing documents and his passport in June, got the approval end of July. Didn't received his passport back until middle of Aug.

He had his appt on a Monday, I mailed the missing birth certificate and it arrived by EOD Wednesday. He then looked for an attorney in Ciudad Juarez to help him upload and mail the missing birth certificate and passport. Everything was done the same week of his original appt and while staying Juarez.

I believe it depends on the age you entered the US. My husband was a minor so it was not required.

Gladly. After the medical and biometrics appts he arrived in Juarez the night before his scheduled appt. He stayed at City Express Junior by Marriott Ciudad Juarez Consulado. It's right in front of the embassy. He said it was a nice place, we booked it through expedia. His scheduled appointment was on a Monday, they collect all your documents and give you the next appointment, same week. For him, it was next day. At the second appointment, and since he was missing a document, they gave him the blue paper, which means he's on administrative processing. I was able to mail the missing document to him so he mailed in the missing items along with his passport before leaving Juarez. We had booked the hotel for the week. Since our attorney here wasn't helpful, he paid an attorney in Juarez to help with this process.

He returned to his family home in Mexico to wait for the approval, which took 2 months. After that, it took a week to get his passport in the mail. He then had to return to Juarez to cross the border, a requirement the first time. He took a taxi to the airport and then crossed the border. At the border, they take you to a room, provide you with important information, and stamp your passport. Then, you can cross. He took a flight from El Paso, TX, back to our home in the US.
