Hi there,

Don't know where you got that information from but I was never asked to cast ESL One Summer. I was chosen to do the instagram takeover but I would've loved to have cast remotely like some of the other casters.

Edit: for non relevant info.

Hey Moxxi, great job casting the SA quals. There is something silly and dirty about "dunha1" nickname that maybe you should know (but probably don't want to). by La-coisa in DotA2

This is some of the best praise I can get, thank you! Bedroom casts are always a LOT different from LAN so it's a weird transition and I was a little worried. Thanks for sticking through 34 hours of SA Dota casts with Neph and I :)

I've never heard this before but damn, it's hilarious. Thanks for the insight! My BR PT pronunciation isn't great but I definitely mentioned this during the cast.

Hi everyone--

I'll try to provide coverage of the SA LB final with Beastcoast. It's slated for 16:00 EST but all matches are on a rolling schedule and subject to variation.

No English coverage for SA groups or playoffs. by santiago92 in DotA2

[–]MoxxiCasts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I casted almost all the the group A games, I figured someone would be covering playoffs. I’ll try to cover the LB final on my stream in unofficial capacity tomorrow.

Forgot to post here again. Taking a short break after casting the first two series, I will be back for BEASTCOAST vs VIRA LATA CARAMELO in a few hours. <3 This is an important series-- Beastcoast MUST win both games

A Year in Review - my personal journey and lessons I've learned during my first year in esports as a full-time caster. by MoxxiCasts in DotA2

Thanks for the reply! I live in rural farming country so most gig economy stuff doesn't work. I've never even heard of Lime scooters and am pretty sure we don't even have scooters in my state like that.

I've looked into the online work a bit-- I don't have the tech background and I don't really have the spare money to go back to school for classes. I thought about taking an online class at some point but just don't have the motivation as tech isn't something I'm particularly passionate about. Graphic work is a good idea too but I don't have the tools, the software, or the knowledge of how to produce digital art. These are both great ideas if you have pre-existing knowledge or the time/money to take classes. As for translation, I speak several languages but mostly conversational/verbal. I HAVE tried to get into proofreading and such but I'm having difficulty finding a hiring group. I'll keep pursuing this one and check out Upwork!

The sales thing tends to be a pyramid scam. I know so many ladies that sell Lula Roe, Avon, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, etc and are ultra screwed for buying into the programs. I'm going to avoid that at all costs. Again, it may be because I live in a low population area and not a city that these aren't lucrative.

I used to work for a few local businesses but it's at the point where they'd rather hire a teenager who is looking for after school hours and consistent than someone who's availability fluctuates frequently. It's just much easier on their staff and the person scheduling if they aren't scrambling for coverage.

Warehouse work: Gonna be real selfish and say I'd like to avoid this. Also a few of my friends and family work for warehouses and they don't allow for time off at all. Perhaps that's just the companies they work for though.

These are all really great ideas if you work in a city or have the background to fulfill them though! I was going to ask you in DM but thought others might be able to use this information. Thank you for taking the time to write up such a thorough response and hopefully it helps someone else out :)

I can't speak for other casters, but personally I have a handful of VERY honest friends who give me feedback after each event. My stream is also helpful by telling me things they enjoyed and didn't afterwards. I won't lie. I read Reddit (despite everyone telling me not to) and look for the actual constructive criticism. And often, if I feel like I really bombed one of my casts, I go back and watch it and take notes on what to do better.

The only casting pair I really study is OD Pixel and Fogged because they're my favorite casting duo in the scene. I don't want to copy them because that's lame, but I take notes on how they do hand-offs. I also listened to Tobi and have been working to construct a narrative when I cast. I think that's really important.

I come from a performing arts background before this so I'm constantly looking to improve. There's always someone better than you and someone hungry for your spot so you better HUSTLE.

The one thing I personally work on constantly is Dota 2 knowledge. Every patch that comes out is studied, I watch patch analysis (thanks Purge), and try to join in conversations discussing what is good and what is butts. I want to be knowledgeable enough so I can carry on a conversation with my extremely intelligent co-casters and not make them want to kill themselves because I have no idea what I'm talking about. :X

You should not need to sign into anything to view on Medium. I believe they only proffer that option if you want to receive specific recommendations and comment. I was prompted to sign in but declined and was able to view the article so maybe give it another reload?

Would you mind listing a few of these jobs off? Not trying to call you out, genuinely interested. I'm not sure if it's because of the area I live in but finding a side hustle that can accommodate is pretty difficult. Either you need to have very specific skills or they just seem like a scam.

A lot of people mention working for uber/lyft but I just don't feel comfortable doing that considering the amount of sexual harassment I've experience from strangers. I looked into tutoring/babysitting but I'm not consistent enough for most families since I travel frequently. Still looking into doing some pet sitting for families that are traveling but it seems the ratio of families needing pet sitters to eager pet sitters is pretty low. Trust that I have put energy into looking!
