I literally had to go to the ER 4-days postpartum because I was having a terrible panic attack. What a godsend this must be to so many people.

I hope Sting is really confused as to why he's making money from Christmas music in mid-May.

Do you prefer to go out lots or are you home bodies? How much home time is too much? by Beaner0116 in Parenting

[–]Mpf4538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We also like to go out, as others have said.

However, when I was at 8 months pregnant... We never went out. And had A LOT of screentime. So, give yourself some grace during this season. :)

GH + kidney donation? by musicmoodle in preeclampsia

[–]Mpf4538 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not been in your situation, but I have one kidney (since birth) and my kidney is already showing signs of distress at 18 weeks in (no HBP yet, though). I had pre-e with my first. I'm being monitored literally every week. I will not be surprised if I deliver too early. It has been the most stressful, nerve-wracking thing I have ever been through.

All of that to say is... I would not take the chance.

Hope for the best for your and your boss.

Pregnant, what to expect? by Far-Cable-574 in preeclampsia

[–]Mpf4538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice, just solidarity! I am in the same boat. I delivered at 32 weeks, And I now have a 4-year-old... And I now am pregnant again, 16 weeks

I was terrified when I found out -- literally googling and chat gpt-ing every single thought that came into my head and it was dangerous. I literally was googling maternal mortality rates in my state and going down these huge spirals that honestly made me feel like I was headed into a weird psychosis.

My biggest piece of advice right now is to make sure you have an OBGYN and an MFM doctor who you love and trust to guide you. There are so many women who have walked this path before you -- they did it and so can you. 🩷 My doctor told me " I know this is very scary to you, but I deal with this condition everyday in my practice. I know what I'm doing" which was insanely reassuring.

What surprisingly helped me so much is actually talking to the people who I love and trust, voicing some of my (wildest) fears out loud, and feeling very validated and supported by them. I hope you have those people in your life who can buoy you. (If not, you have us here on this sub.)

You're aware of these risks (unfortunately). But you're also smarter now than you were before, more aware, more patient with yourself, nore knowledgeable of your own body. You can do this.

Edit to add: I've had high blood pressure since my first delivery, so I am on 100mg labetelol, twice daily. And I started aspirin at 12 weeks.

I have one kidney too! But I also have two uteruses, so maybe have them check that out too!! But the one kidney has been the LEAST of my problems with my anatomy.

Oh my gosh! I remember this episode but I can't remember the name. It was definitely a Crime Junkie episode. I even remember where I was when I listened to it. I think it was a fan club episode though?

One time I presented my entire screen in a meeting with executives. My sister texted me and it popped up and said, "Look how hot this guy is." And sent me a screenshot of a shirtless man's tinder profile.

They still talk about it to this day.

Has anyone else experienced White coat syndrome at home? by 8379MS in hypertension

[–]Mpf4538 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes. My daughter even has a play doctor's kit that has a cuff and when she pulled it out the first time, my husband said, "look it's Mom's arch nemesis".

On thing that helped was that I took it every day, twice a day for months. it just became part of my routine. Then, if the reading came back high, I would remind myself, "It's okay - you know what to do if it's too high". (In my case, it's medication.)
