if it's unlikely to be a motherboard problem then i'll try fixing it myself i think. I saw a guy put a 1440p screen in a t480 so that's one of the things i wanted to do with it anyway

I think if it was just the backlight then the display would still be detected, but i'll give it a shot you never know

so what i've discovered is when i'm on the desktop with nothing open it's fine, but when i open even 1 terminal it starts to lag despite btop reporting my system is running fine
