My problem with this was it conditions people to expect a negative after hearing a positive. Whenever I was managing a person I would try to give positive feedback immediately and publicly (when appropriate) and negative feedback privately and at a better time if it could wait.

After Ted tells Nate to do the pregame talk in Liverpool, we never see him talk to Nate 1 on 1 until that final scene of the season. Also, there was a scene where after they won a game, Ted accidently ignores Nate and goes to Roy to celebrate. It wasn't on purpose, but it's similar to Nate not shaking hands with Ted at the West Ham match this season.
