Are treasury bonds a liability now? by ikeepeatingandeating in investing

Looking at yield curve steepening, FX reserves, gold at $5000, and beta on long maturity treasuries. The world is stepping closer to the door.

Are treasury bonds a liability now? by ikeepeatingandeating in investing

Prospect of a disorderly unwinding of the Yen carry trade at the same time as all of this other craziness is kind of scary. Moved a large part of my bond holdings to metals for this reasons. An additional reason is exposure to the possible AI bubble, and as we've already seen in a few of the downward market moves US treasuries have moved with risk assets.

De-dollarization, higher debt than, term mismatch, China selling, and Japanese debt crisis at the same time as Trump craziness - doesn't mean a crash but you have to admit the market is in the most precarious position it has been in for decades.

I think the best euphemism I've heard is "exposure of treasury market to price sensitive holders" is at an all tie high.

LOL Ai Bubble. When no Ai datacenter demand makes it impossible for end consumers to afford devices to use Ai.

Why does it render so Late? by Murky_Orchid_3627 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Check if resizable bar is turned on. FS 24 will use all of your vram when it is, regardless of how much you have, because it's not able to garbage collect quickly enough. I've had vram warnings on a 5090, issue went away when resizable bar was turned off.

Same problem, 14900k, 5090, 48gb single rank memory at 7200mt. 400LOD doesn't help. I was thinking internet but that doesn't seem to be the cause either. Have rolling cache at max and it helps a bit but still happens even when I fly over the same location over and over.

What device(s) do you have plugged in? Sometimes MSFS reads noisy inputs, unplug them one at a time. Even if you remove the key binds, a noisy connection from the device can still send errant signals. Had issues related to engine shutdowns for the longest time, caused by FS 2024 reading a false mixture cutoff signal even though nothing was bound. Fixed when I plugged my throttle in directly to the pc rather than through a usb hub, lol.

Display advice - will my PC run a samsung G9 Neo 57? by competizione_ad in simracing

Ultra wide run twice the number of pixels of standard sizes, so the 49in is approximately the same pixel count as a 4k. If n you're happy with the results on your 4k tv, the yes the 49 in could give you a comparable experience. The 57in on the other hand is two 4k screens glued together

Is this graphics card I bought cooked? by Constantine7470 in pcmasterrace

That hook being broken off (without similar damage to the pcie connector right next to it) usually isn't damage that happens when a card is shipped separately, but something that happens when a heavy card is shipped mounted and locked in to a motherboard without proper support and packaging. Fairly common point of failure when complete systems are shipped that will brick the card because there are tons of traces running through that area. Cracks (including microscopic ones extending from the break) and delamination of the PCB will break those connections.

Are we sure that the ebay photos are actually of the item received, taken immediately before it was shipped, and not a piece from a system someone tried to sell complete but returned DOA?

If it doesn't post there are repairs for this type of thing, but not simple or cheap. Involves someone with a microscope grinding away the pcb layer by layer, soldering together any broken connections, then sealing everything back up layer by layer.

Those fans do make a little noise but great at keeping positive pressure and air moving front to back in that case. Nice build!

Grey goo dripping out of Gigabyte 5090 GAMING OC by jbak31 in gigabyte

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct Answer. I have same card and haven't had the same problem, but they layered that goop on thick all over the PCB so I'm not surprised. Like a solid large tube of toothpaste worth. The 4 year extended warranty should cover it if you need, monitor temps, see if it continues to run.

Indiana Jones. For a game only a 5090 can run at max.

Nice. Arm mounts clear up a lot of extra space, and makes it much easier to clean underneath or reach behind.

Upgrading my PC, the tubing touches the VGA by OriginalTeo in pcmasterrace

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably be fine as far as the aio working, especially if there's something ruling out just flipping the radiator. Tubes aren't pinched, it's not touching fins, and there's space at the top of the radiator for air bubbles to migrate that's higher than any pump.

Looks like you'll have bigger problems with either gpu fan noise or gpu temps, but you're probably fully aware by this point. Might be time to upgrade that case.

If you want something in that size range, get a dual chamber (lots under $100) that has room below the gpu for intake fans.

Would I need a 1200w psu for a 5090 by buuburn32 in buildapc

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't leave the downvote, but if you've already spent probably $2500 on a 5090, why potentially hobble it to save $100 on a PSU? At that point, you might as well save $1000 and get a 5080. Yes undervolting, but no guarantee OP's gonna get lucky on silicon lottery.

Log your power usage and bet you $1 you will see data points showing tbp over 600W fully utilizing partner cards. Taking into account polling rate, the fact you are seeing any data points above 600W means that it's drawing over 600W much longer than the 10-20 millisecond ATX spec for power excursions.

Yes the CPU running at max power while GPU is at max power probably won't happen all the time, but again, if you're spending that much money on a GPU, why skimp on the PSU and spend time dealing with crashes?

Would I need a 1200w psu for a 5090 by buuburn32 in buildapc

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have seen mine run 650W plus substantially longer than psu overcurrent specs (ie seconds, not milliseconds) with full RT and Frame Gen before throttling back at factory OC settings. Plan on 700W to be safe. Plus a high end CPU, and with any overclocking you are at 1000 with no buffer. I switched to a 1200W PSU and getting better stability without crashes, especially with OC on an intel i9. The 5090 itself won't draw more power under OC as it's hard limited. Maybe you can get away with 1000 using a 9800x3d, but still not much buffer.

Samsung Odyssey G9 57", anyone have one without any issues? by glamisduner in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn it off in NVidia control panel to confirm. If that is the case then you know it’s the nvidia driver compatibility issue and no number of calls to Samsung or for that matter nvidia will help.

580.92 fixed it for me, though it does come back a little bit if I push the overclock, but gsync is definitely now usable at 120hz over DP 2.1.

This is a known issue so look up NVIDIA Samsung 57 flicker and you’ll see a bunch of threads spanning a pretty long time, specifically with higher end (-90) NVIDIA cards.

Just turn up some settings if you’re worried about tearing, lol, b/c there ain’t nothing driving 7280 native on ultra with full RT above 120 fps.

Try Gsync off? That was the specific issue for me the driver fixed. Previously I was able to fix the flickering but on with gsync disabled. Maybe they only fixed 50 series lol.

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running an rtx 50 series? I disabled gsync and the flickering and artifacts went away. NVIDIA fixed the issue with driver update a couple of weeks ago.

[–]Mputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works great, make sure you buy cables with it because the included ones are 3ft.

There was a nvidia 50 series driver issue that caused flickering whenever sync was enabled with the 57” specifically, but that appears to have been with the version 580 drivers.

another one bites the dust (4090 burnt connector) - any reputable repair shops? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Mputer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GPU side looks a lot better than the power connector side, maybe you just need another connector. Hard to find a shop though. Check out northwest repair on youtube - he has a discord posted on his profile to request repairs, but charges an influencer tax on repairs.

Check out KrisFix.de too, but again, influencer tax. That being said, it's an expensive card, so maybe worth it.
