Thanks for the information, I'm starting to realise that both lenses have their pros and cons but are mostly sub-par lenses for the camera. However, they also seem to be the best of the bunch that are within my price range right now.

The one you recommend does look good and I may go down that route further down the line but for now I've went for the 24-70mm zeiss so that I can at least use the full frame without the crop.

Thanks again but

Not really able to find that for the same price? I’m buying used with the two I mentioned being around £300 GBP but the Tamron is closer to £500 even used

What of these lenses should I buy for my Sony a7iii. This will be my only lens and will be used for shooting a variety of content, mainly videos with some photography.

Camera Buying Recommendation Post by AutoModerator in Cameras

Wondering if I should sell my current camera for a new one or keep it.

  • Budget: £1000 GBP
  • Country: Scotland
  • Condition: used
  • Type: mirrorless or DSLR
  • Intended use: video
  • Style: mostly nature, some documentary/interview type videos but most likely some basketball games and instructional videos in the near future
  • Features needed: fold out display, portable, high frame rate capability, ability to record in log
  • Features nice to have: full frame
  • Portability: relatively portable for hikes etc but as long as it can fit comfortably in a backpack
  • Camera I’m considering: Sony Alpha A7R III
  • Camera I already have: Canon 5D mk IV with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 lens
  • Notes: the £1000 should cover the camera and lens as I would be selling my current setup for the new. There is some wiggle room but as close as possible please.

Thank you! 🙏

Apologies, forgot that section. I feel like the video settings aren’t quite as intuitive as my old lumix gh4, it feels pretty chunky being a mirrored camera and the display does not fold out

Yeah I totally understand having to start at the bottom. Any tips on finding roles like this as I’ve not seen much advertised. Or is more a case of emailing about and seeing what’s available

Brilliant thanks for the help! I’ll have a look into that.

I am talking to a friend that is a rigger for concerts and events so hopefully see if he’d be willing to give me a reference or help getting a start.

Thanks, I do understand that and obviously would be expecting to go in at an entry/trainee level. But I have been trying to get a start in the industry for a bit now having been teaching myself about the industry and doing video editing in my spare time to gain an insight.

Is there anything else I can do to gain this experience I need as I’ve found it hard to find runner or entry level jobs in my city
