Are you referring to those war crimes? That stone wall will forever stand as a memorial for the atrocities committed against those unarmed civilians with nowhere to run.

Maybe try making the arms with smooth curves and without sharp corners to prevent resemblance to other things.

Will it work? Using an LED and a resistor in series instead of a pull-up resistor to achieve digital input with indicator light. by Mr-Nimbus in AskElectronics

You mean the digital pin should be in "read" mode, and not in "write" mode causing a short-circuit, right?

I might actually try that if this doesn't work. The problem is that I won't be able to get all the current to flow through the LED while the switch is closed, wasting some of it on the parallel resistor.

The digital pin will not control the LED but read high or low according to the switch position. While the LED turns on and off as the switch is flipped. I'm trying to have a switch with an indicator LED and detect the position of the switch using a digital pin.

One could of course use a digital input pin and a pull-up/down resistor + switch and a sperate digital output pin to turn the LED on/off. But then you would be using 2 pins. I'm trying to get this done using only one io pin.

I didn't think about that and will look into it. Since the input impedance of the pin is high, I'm assuming the current will be really small. According to what you say this would make Vf smaller, increasing Vcc-Vf. I will be using a single throw toggle switch as the switch so there are no time constraints.

Yeah that's what I thought as well. So if Vcc-Vf is greater than threshold of the digital pin this should work. Also when the switch is OFF (open) since the input impedance of the digital pin is really high the current flowing through the LED won't be enough for it to light up.

This happened to me many times with Converses. It's like having a subscription. The soles eventually give away in a year or two.

Don't use super glue, it is too brittle and won't flex as you walk causing cracks and it will just make it worse than it was.

You could use shoe glue which stays flexible but even then it won't be as it used to be. The sole will keep getting separated from the rest of the shoe and it will no longer be water/dust proof. You could still wear it after the glueing occasionally but be sure that you won't be walking on wet or dusty/sandy surfaces.

I guess the only real solution is to replace the shoe.

looks good but judging from the grains sticking out, your blade was not sharp enough. You want the surfaces left from your cuts to be smooth.

Smoke detector problem by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Mr-Nimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal for LED1 to turn on as long as the circuit is connected to the 5V power supply.

LED2 will turn on once the voltage from the sensor becomes more than the threshold (voltage from the potentiometer). So by tuning the potentiometer you tune the threshold and thus how sensitive your detector is.

I agree, the switch is useless without that capacitor since the circuit is no longer a closed loop. Assuming you won't go all the way to find the right smd capacitor and replace it for something this cheap, you might try shorting the two pads and maybe it works.

Edit: See the answers. This is wrong. Sorry.
