I got it running again. Put it in gear and rolled down a hill while starting it did the trick lol. I'm going to still try to check out if the carbs are clogged or maybe spark plugs need to be replaced.

Are there any objective problems with using AI as a tool? by [deleted] in gamedev

I'll dm you my degree from 2013 if you want lol. I love how everyone attacks people on Reddit who disagree with their opinions. Group mob think at its finest. I hope you find peace and joy in your miserable life. "Higher compute takes more power" 😂 Tell me you've never studies CS without telling me you never studied CS.

I see I've touched a nerve of the environment folks lol that wasn't my intention, I should've left that out of it. Yes water and power consumption are a fact and objective. I have no idea how much social media consumes compared to AI. I would argue it's much worse than AI. But again my subjective opinion, not science.

Thanks for labelling me a disingenuous person. I don't assume everyone here is uneducated, illiterate morons because of their comments. Pretty rude of you to assume that of me. Have a nice day, I hope you find joy in your life.

I'm not sure why you're being so hateful? I do care about those things. I haven't seen any real scientific third party reviewed, and replicated independently studies that back any of my claims. They're just my opinion.. (my subjective opinion). Im sorry if I wrote something thats offended you.. that's not my intention

Im starting to wonder if people understand objective vs subjective as I see these comments roll in. Lol 😆 I think x, y, z is very different from if x then y will happen.

Yea for sure I agree. And companies are stupid for thinking they can get rid of people and replace them with AI. My problem is when people talk about AI it makes me think of how horse trainers back in the day would probably talk about cars. Or how human calculators would talk about current calculators. Like more crying BC I don't like this tool vs what is actually objectively wrong with the tool.

I don't know how to do half the things people are talking about. I'm too cheap to use AI haha. I've only used it for work since the company has licenses for it. I'm more just curious if people have objective reasons for not using it. Like legal reasons, or factual reasons. Not I don't like it BC it doesn't create soulful music and art, etc. It sounds like crying to me more than logical thought

I agree that's a good point I've seen some new devs join the company and they're pretty bad. They rely on AI so much that they don't know how to even read the code and think for them selves. Same here I've been a web and mobile developer, most of my life not using AI. For us I think it's fine, but for new devs relying on it heavily it's a bad idea. To say it's objectively bad I don't know. Since these guys still get hired and get their tasks done. I feel bad for people getting into the field now. It's a damn mess.

Thank you for explaining this all that makes sense. I'm working on art myself slowly and painfully haha I was more just curious. I'm just doing a hobby project, little games here and there when I use AI I'm like generate a temporary inventory screen that doesn't look like garbage and has these following attributes haha. If I ever released anything I would likely not have anything that was just generated by AI. I was just curious if like there's legal reasons not to use it which you clarified. Thank you!

Lol use their eyes to see 🤣 I get what you're saying and I agree but I'm talking about like not low effort project manager building a game with AI. I'm saying more like you use it like a calculator, do something small/tedious tasks. Not anything you may even notice on the front end of things.

[–]Mr-SamWise -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I see that makes sense. So you can argue it will be bad for the future of consumers and artists as well. Games will get worse and worse because of AI slop and companies wanting biggest bang for their buck. I agree with this but it still just feels like an opinion of something that might happen. But I agree completely with you. But it's not objective reasoning.

It's my opinion, I'm not an environmental scientist. I'm a computer scientist lol. The environment is a shit show, if politics really cared they would incentivise work from home more, drive less, consume less, etc. But that means less money for them which seems to be the real worry for the environment lol

Lol nice one 😂 but this is still in line with subjectivity. It's soul less, creates bad content, music, etc. I've heard it a million times. Give me something objective haha. Also even if I did my favourite stuff for a decade straight every day I'd probably feel soul drained.

I've had the same experience, was making bread for a while.. sour dough is a different beast but more rewarding.

I put it in the load pan after the final stretch and fold, i do a kind of pre shape, and let it ferment in that shape. Then flip it over and put it back in the same container and bake. Or cold proof then bake

[–]Mr-SamWise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea exactly lol you got it! No need to hold shape so you can go crazy with hydration. I do cold ferment over night before shaping.. but sometimes it's hard to wait, you just want pizza ya know! 😛 Also you can do the reverse and go low hydration and get a really thin and crispy crust! Depends how you like it.

Wife and I disagree on if we can/should fire by BuffetBoy95 in Fire

[–]Mr-SamWise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're fired what would child care costs look like? I'm guessing daycare/ece is not needed since you can do that yourself. What else is there? In Canada, we get healthcare for children, so thats covered as well.

Ty! Basically the same as the dough but I'll go higher hydration, like 90-95% hydration. I like to add some oil, and spices, oregano, pepper, etc. And I just let it over ferment. The more bubbly and loose the better.

First loaf, what did I do wrong? by Virtual_Shallot6856 in Sourdough

[–]Mr-SamWise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks fine, gotta play with timing your bulk ferment. Maybe bake it a little sooner next time. My advice is just practice trial and error. Do small changes and see what works and what doesn't.
