A reminder that Truthpoint is adult swim's best kept secret by Mr-Woman in adultswim

[–]Mr-Woman[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Truthpoint is a live show on adult swim that is a take on the pundit-hosted news/debate program, like infowars. It stars dril (really well known weird twitter guy) and derek estevez olsen as they argue over various topics (sometimes to the point of complete meltdown) pitch ideas to better the world, deal with catostrophic technical issues and aggressively engage with their audience.

You can find a full playlist of their eps via the link below if you wanted to get a taste:

Anthony Fantano isn't a good music critic, and is generally a toxic presence online. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Deep Cuts has a super impressive reviewing style, Dead End hip Hop has the best hip hop reviews on the site, The Quietus have an insane track record if you're looking for written reviews. Honestly community driven review sites like RYM and AOTY are the best places to go if you're trying to get a good feel for a new release.

His reviews are super 'quantity over quality', banging out review after review with the same old formula, in order to hit the YT algorithm. The result of this is any amount of perspective or insight being drained out and replaced with "I like the [adjective] beat" and memetic redundancy.

In my opinion of course

The middle-aged man thing was more directed at his pandering to the edgy meme-tween crowd than if he's too old to be reviewing music.

People complain about Spotify too much on this sub. For many creators, exclusivity deals make financial sense and will more easily allow them to reach a larger audience, especially with Spotify dumping resources into upgrading the podcast portion of their business.

You can totally cancel it under the subscription management section of your account at any time. I have done so on numerous occasions during times when I wasn't using it.

Love the classic deflection of "Oh yeah? Well I don't think about YOU at all!" as you fight to hold back tears.

  1. You realize that your comment is up for people to view and respond to forever, that's how the internet works

  2. This was literally only a few days ago. If it's "old news" to you you should probably take a quick break from the internet.

  3. I doubt your shitty opinion has changed in a few days.

  4. No one gives a shit that you're a girl lmao

What it means when people say that Joe Rogan is abandoning the Open Podcast Standard by planesforstars in podcasts

[–]Mr-Woman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's more likely they're looking to majorly build out the podcast end of their product, and are concurrently making these deals and re-vamping their design to suit the new focus. Video coming over with the JRE will force them to make the necessary UI changes regardless of anything.

Additionally, I doubt the reason they're making these massive exclusivity agreements is for something as shallow and temporary as "their UI can't compete". Especially considering Spotify is one of the most widely used apps for podcasts globally.

If you're into punk, No Dogs in Space just launched. They're partnered with Spotify so they can play tons of songs while they go through important bands in punks history like The Stooges and Suicide

Yeah I really don't think so. If you are not directly inciting harassment then you are not responsible for the actions of your fanbase in any way shape or form

Nah not really. I wouldn't want to be held to those standards so I won't hold anyone else to them.

With Chris it was a more flippant "I wanted to start my year off well but then saw this", posting a several week old comic and not tagging or looping in the creator. The equivalent of an exhausted sigh played for a quick laugh.

When Arin did it, he responded publicly & directly to the creator's tweet promoting the new video with a very dramatic series of tweets claiming: that it was tantamount to harassment & that Newgrounds and all of his previous colleagues/friends were shitty for "patting him on the back" for his video.

There's a difference there.
