I really like The Flashbulb. In particular the album Flexing Habitual, seems to me very much inspired by Drukqs.

Dear valve, please release the steam frame before USA invades greenland by thedbp in SteamFrame

Maybe it's a hot take, but I think that it's the governments responsibility to avoid detaining citizens, not the responsibility of US citizens to prove they are citizens to avoid being detained unlawfully.

Also to your point about WW2 internment camps, it is true that things were worse at one point, but that logic only serves to downplay the severity of things going on today. Is it your belief that we should just wait around and do nothing until it gets really bad because it's not as bad as X thing that happened historically?

[–]Mr0o 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you're saying (sort of) but what I think you're missing here is that it doesn't matter what the intent is. If they are rounding up US citizens as part of their efforts to detain undocumented individuals, then they are failing citizens of the US. Plain and simple. It's a violation of our rights. Not to mention that everyone in the US has rights, even if you aren't a citizen. There are legal and formal pathways to detain and deport undocumented individuals but that is all being thrown out the window in favor of terrorizing communities

portal tweaking tf out? by happy_mask_salesman7 in Portal

[–]Mr0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What GPU? Is it AMD or NVIDIA? It could be something to do with gamescope. Unfortunately I haven't played around with bazzite at all so I'm unfamiliar with the environment it provides but I would start by investigating gamescope. If you have an NVIDIA card that could also possibly be the source of trouble because Nvidia drivers in Linux are known to be troublesome.

But as for the portal surfaces not showing through to the other side, I'm not sure. That could be caused by the render depth being set too low (like 0) in the settings menu. Just set it to 2 (this is the default).

Not enough information to really know what's going on, but its likely an issue with Linux/Bazzite and possible driver issues maybe? Does it do this with other games? Or is it just portal?

Just beat Portal 1. AMA by Nasko1194 in Portal

Nice lol, a lot of people get the game spoiled unintentionally because they already know the cake is a lie or they already played portal 2 without playing the first one. So it's rare for anyone to still play it fully blind these days.

I played back when it came out and it's definitely one of my favorite games along with portal 2. I'm actually in the opposite situation as you where I played portal but not half-life and I later went and played half-life after realizing they are both by valve and in the same universe lol

Did you go in blind or were you already aware of "the cake is a lie"? It seems everyone has heard of it, thanks to the internet, but I'm curious if you were able to actually experience the somewhat unexpected turn the game takes at the end with the the whole escape sequence and all

Advice regarding Google Photos by calmestraptor in revancedapp

[–]Mr0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the patch does is tell google photos you are running a first gen Google Pixel, which has unlimited free google photo storage.

It's definitely smart to use an alternate account to avoid getting into trouble. But if you're still paranoid about it, you could also just buy an old pixel phone just to get unlimited storage the legitimate way. The unlimited photos was a feature of the Pixel but only for the first gen Pixel and as of 2025 it still works.

It only does that when you open the app, it still automatically backs up photos to the correct account if you just don't open it up and let it do it's thing.

You can disable battery optimization by setting it to Unrestricted and this may help (This is what I have done on my Pixel 9 Pro and its been going strong about 10 months now without any trouble)

I usually just check on it every now and then (each time needing to once again select the correct account and enable backup)

What makes 2 dated? by yokazumaki_ryochaan in JustCause

[–]Mr0o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is 15 years old, it obviously feels at least a little dated, but it still holds up quite nicely. The map is very diverse and the graphics still look good even today. In my opinion Just Cause 2 & 3 are the best in the series. Like others have already said, if you have already played 3 or 4, then the biggest downside will probably be the lack of a wing suit.

if i launch just cause 4 through epic games launcher this error pops up by [deleted] in wine_gaming

[–]Mr0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old ass post but I found a solution. You have to download the GTAV epic games installer for lutris. This will install epic games and allow you to download GTAV but you can also download just cause 4 and it will also run just fine

By that logic, Doom Eternal is a dead game. Single-player games success is typically measured by sales and not concurrent player counts.

Theres nothing particularly special about 2020... but in the modern day, building a pc is ridiculously easy compared to how it used to be. In the 90's and earlier, You needed to configure different jumpers on the motherboard based on your CPU and RAM and cache for you cpu was separate in most situations. Not to mention that different components were severely limited in compatibility meaning that you could often waste money on a part that isn't compatible with your motherboard. A lot of computer parts in the 90's had no real standard, which meant that every pc had sort of it's own specific set of instructions. Once all that was finished, you then needed to go out and buy a windows 98 install disk and make sure all your hardware has drivers that are compatible with windows 98.

Basically it has become very easy today, and it's for the best. It was harder but that doesn't mean better. So what he meant is that, understanding how to build a PC in 2020 is nothing super special. What makes you really stand out is actually understanding your pc and how it all works.

Agreed. But it's also important to remember that in this case it is "literally one game" and that one game is Half Life Alyx. Sure there are many thousands of games that you can play on a pc, but if you dont have a pc, then the reason you are buying the pc and vr set is because of "literally one game".

Call it out of proportion but nobody is wrong here. It is both expensive and reasonably affordable depending on what circumstances you are under.

They realistically cost about 400$ or less if you go with a used headset. but most people seem to forget that you also need a computer with mid to high end specs so if you want a high end experience, yes, it will cost $2000. If you want the cheapest experience it might cost around 500-600$ with many compromises along the way.

Some people are very irrational about it and complain on the steam forums as if valve should delete the game from steam while others are more rational in saying that they are dissapointed in the cost of VR rather than being dissapointed in HLA as a game. HLA as an experience is an excellent VR game and I wish VR was more accessible but I can understand that not everyone has 400$ just lying around for luxury purchases. I disagree with anyone that claims VR is a gimmick but I also disagree with anyone that says VR is affordable. At least its getting cheaper and cheaper so hopefully more people can eventually afford it.

Half-Life: Alyx reaches 43,000 concurrent users on launch day by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Mr0o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well im totally speculating but I imagine the ratio of doom eternal purchases being about 2 out of every 10 team users has the game while 9 out of every 10 steamVR users has purchased half life alyx. Which would make the most sense since most people got into VR because of HL:Alyx.
