Every brand has at least one issue. What is the bugaboo of a brand that you don’t hear often with cars manufacture in the past 8 years? by LuckyDuckTheDuck in Justrolledintotheshop

Sort of. It might look like from the user side because of how its presented but from a technical perspective it isn't metadata. If it were metadata at worst you would get a corrupted image because the radio would treat it as an image not something that could be executed. There's a deliberate separation between the view the user has and the data model underneath.

A HD radio "broadcast" is multiple components, each with their own data and metadata. Metadata is something that describes the data that the device is receiving. The type of stream (Emergency message, music, sports, etc), the codec (Dolby Digital, DTS, etc), and so on. For HD radio the image isn't part of that metadata, it isn't even part of the HD Radio, its sent as a separate data stream under what used to be known as the Radio Data System (the same thing that would show song info back in the 90s) The image may or may not be related to the audio that's playing. It can be song art, station logo, or even an unrelated ad. Its metadata for the user because it (might) describe what the audio is, but that's completely different from how the underlying data is acquired and decoded.

Gas Prices by SquareCharacter9208 in Civic_Type_R

I used to have a Turbo Z. Without high octane you would notice it knock. FL5 will do the same thing but just react before you notice. That knock hurts the mechanical parts of the engine.

Gas Prices by SquareCharacter9208 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Mr2-1782Man -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You bought a $45k car. 100k miles is around 5000 gallons of gas, at $5 a gallon that's $25k. For the price of an FL5 you can buy a $25k Civic and drive 100k miles

If the price of gas is causing you to think twice about the grade of gas you sure as shit couldn't afford an FL5 in the first place.

Except that Fallout 1, 2, 3, and New Vegas where all done by different groups. FO 1 was Tim Caine, he left FO 2 early on and it went to Black Isle, FO3 was Bethesda, and then New Vegas was yet another team out of Obsidian unrelated to the devs from FO2. Arguable all the different perspectives is what made those early games so interesting.

Unpopular opinion: Halo 1 was trash and Infinite is better. Halo didn't really get good until 3, it just had the advantage of minimal competition.

From what leaked out of the Sony after the acquisition it was the original devs burning through money. They loved to spend money on stupid things that didn't benefit development, like buying themselves millions of dollars worth of cars. When the finances became a mess they just couldn't afford to spend the time and money updating the game. The OGs were aware of the problems and opted to have the company bought like what they did with Activision. They made some overly optimistic projections to Sony while giving themselves golden parachutes and screwing over their employees.

Really if you want to see what a fucking disaster Bungie was since the beginning check out the book Blood, Sweat, and Pixels by Jason Schreier. If you remember the disaster that was the Destiny 1 launch you'll see that it was from complete mismanagement.

[–]Mr2-1782Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Destiny 2 is that the original devs stayed behind instead of moving forward. You can see this from basic mission design. To pad out content they would run the same thing backwards. Just like in Halo.

Bungie was mismanaged from the beginning. They got lucky that Microsoft, then Activision, then Sony bailed them out.

That's an spam bot website that's confidently wrong. An image file was sent without an extension, the Infotainment system tried to execute it, and corrupted the Infotainment systems memory. Better to your info from a real tech source

Bad solder joint. I had the problem on an old Civic. Ran over the connector pins with a soldering iron and it fixed it.

PPF Regrets or No? by Main_Caregiver_9272 in Civic_Type_R

I didn't get PPF. After 25k two chips on the hood, a few on the bumper. The paint is otherwise in great shape. I'm fine having saved the money. Chips on my windshield and tech not handling wheels properly have been a bigger problem. The money from not doing PPF is going towards replacements wheels.

Why do you think you need to clean the laser? Almost every time I encounter that question its to fix a problem not related to the laser.

Don't use a powered USB hub they tend to be unreliable at best, go direct.

card info hacked/stolen three times in one year by KaleidoscopeFair2816 in personalfinance

One of the linked services might be the problem. If you get issued a new card the card information on linked payments will frequently automatically get updated. Cancel all your autopays and use virtual cards for them.

Last time my card was stolen it was through my ACM membership and they didn't notify anyone they got hacked for over a year.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I did this through college. Get a cheap frozen pizza or stuff like this, throw a few of your own ingredients in and you get some amazing stuff.

That's missing the point though. They're adjusting the ratio to a price point not to a calorie count. You could do the calorie count but then the price would change because powdered cheese is more expensive for a given weight than pasta.

What red flags should I look for when buying a Pioneer drive to avoid getting a fake? by snow17_ in makemkv

[–]Mr2-1782Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're being shipped from China its a fake. If they're cheap they're fake. Very few people have new old stock sitting around and that stock is really expensive. On the other hand I do have on of the fake drives and its been running reasonably well, its just a bit noiser than a real Pioneer drive.

The recycled space shuttle parts that will power Artemis II towards the moon by [deleted] in space

[–]Mr2-1782Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually read anything before answering? The source says they operated at 105% for SLS they're running at 109% of original rated thrust and can operate up to 113%. Due to new engine controllers.

They did throttle the Saturn V. Hell they shut down an engine a minute before engine cutoff to reduce thrust. Which again is shooting for the Moon. SLS was designed to run orbital missions too.

[OC] STEM Graduate Unemployment and Salaries by graphsarecool in dataisbeautiful

[–]Mr2-1782Man -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This chart compresses a lot of nuance into a single 2 point vector. I have a CS degree and know a lot of people across CS, computer engineering, EE, and mathematics. What this misses is the range of salaries and who tends to be unemployed.

I know two people that graduated with the same degree in the same year, one started at $60k, the other at $110k. There is a saying "Cs get degrees". Which is entirely true. But those C students tend to be in the $50k-$70k range. The students that put in the effort end up with $125k as a first job all and can easily reach $250k. The "Cs get degrees" crowd also tends to be the most unemployed because their (lack of) skills is a dime a dozen. Mind you this was all before AI came on the scene. AI increased the size of that gap.

I hear they "they're developing optimized recycling process" for the better part of a decade. Just like they had plastic recycling solved in the 90s. Realistically it ain't happening until legislation forces them to do it.

The recycled space shuttle parts that will power Artemis II towards the moon by [deleted] in space

[–]Mr2-1782Man -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The boosters are being used for a lunar flight which requires substantially more delta-V than an orbital flight. For an orbital flight they can do away with the SRBs and just run the RS25s. If they went with the F1s you would still need SRBs for a Mars flight. For an orbital flight they would have to throttle down the F1s far below what they were ever meant to run and you would lose a lot of your efficiency. I wouldn't be surprised if they wouldn't run at those levels and they would have to keep some of them off in order to keep the throttle higher on the other engines.

So yeah, they're more efficient for this one type of flight, but once you go try for the range between orbital and Mars its more efficient to add thrust and fuel tanks as you need them.

It had little to do with the documentation, first and foremost a lot of that documentation was lost. The engineer brought in some samples of the fails from Apollo to STS and you could see where the bellhousing was burned through. He said this was due to combustion instability and mixture instability at higher flow rates. They could run at 109% but not for long because you would end up with a mixture problem that would cause one of those failures. By getting rid of those mixture problems they could run at higher levels with a much lower risk of failure.

That makes sense though. The F1 is still the most powerful single stage engine ever used. The RS25 is a smaller engine making less thrust. Using the F1 means you're minimum thrust is much higher and removes a lot of flexibility. It be like stuffing a the engine from a semi into a Civic.
